above: my trusty alex mill perfect weekday tote (which i unabashedly own in both white and olive)–quite possibly the best monogrammable holiday gift this season. striped grey and green j.press x alex mill sweater (not sponsored, just love their stuff), cobalt chore jacket, vintage etro paisley car coat (similar linked), a kule striped sweater that always hits no matter the season, nike killshots that i live in (thank you, Becky), the only silhouette of sunglasses that i have ever worn/ will ever wear, gold huggies that dress up even the most masculine/casual of outfits, and the perfect suede driving loafers. (bonus: green striped socks because yes?) massive coffee table pile of interiors books that may cave in at any moment, writer’s own.

After a trip to the Mayflower Inn & Spa this week to both recharge and chat/plan all things Fenimore Lane Design Summit, I’m back with a packed back half of the week: client meetings, podcast recordings, and diving into the deluge of my inbox after being out of office for three days (eek). I’ve been getting some requests for a roundup like this on IG, so I noodled on a new series– I’ll be putting together a week of outfits each month; a little taste of the items I’ve been wearing the most, throughout a typical week. One of the things I love best about working with my friend (and all around favorite human) Becky Malinsky is that she truly helped me to refine my wardrobe (and my “why” behind getting dressed, frankly), and is always guiding me to edit for versatility, encompassing all the facets of working mom life, from school drop off to a site visit. (She just gets it!)

Below, a round up of a typical week of what I’ve been wearing this fall. The guiding ethos of my wardrobe is mixing classic Americana (think: Alex Mill, J.Crew, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch), with some weird and wonderful vintage from The Real Real or Etsy (e.g., a vintage Etro coat, like the green paisley gal featured in the photo collage above, paired with a white tee, jeans, boat shoes and my trusty ASO tote.) Crisp, cozy and a little hint of something patterned or artsy-craftsy to take it down a notch. (Just how I like my interiors.)

Speaking of weird and wonderful vintage–may I highly recommend Amanda Jones Vaughan’s edit? (AJV *is* that category inside and out.)

Excited to hear your thoughts on this new series, and stay tuned–a new “everything i’d buy for” is coming soon. (Hint: the theme is ~tropical~…)

xx

AO

MONDAY: suede olive jacket, aforementioned gold hoops, perfect tote, and striped sweater, Tory boat shoes in a divinely gorgeous navy blue leather, crisp dark denim in an excellent wash, and a pretty patterned heirloom quality scarf. // TUESDAY: the best cashmere polo, one of my favorite waxed jackets (a category i unintentionally collect much to the chagrin of my husband and the reason for lack of space in our coat closet), white denim all year round forever (but creamy in the winter!), a tortoise clip, chic little necklace that makes everything feel more fun (colored beads do that, don’t they?), a chocolate flannel tote (i stan the RDV bags), and the aforementioned suede driving shoes.
WEDNESDAY: classic tweed jacket, my favorite white tee, j.press sweater (j.press shaggy dog forever), perfectly sized gold hoops (i wear them at least 2x a week), chocolate suede belt, pretty flats you can actually walk in (and wear socks with), my reading glasses, RDV tote. // THURSDAY: cobalt chore jacket, chocolate wool baseball cap for when dry shampoo can’t even help, chocolate long sleeve, nikes because site visits require shoes an errant nail won’t pierce through, cashmere scarf to dress up the chore jacket, wide leg ecru painter pants, boat tote with our AOI logo.
