Hello! And Happy Summer.
My kids are officially on “summer break” and we’re at our family’s lake house in Northern Michigan making the most of it. I’m frankly a little terrified about what the summer brings. It’s the first year we’ve had to figure out a full camp / childcare situation for my son who just wrapped up Kindergarten, as his preschool essentially went straight through, with a few breaks along the way.
We have some camps (and grandparent help) lined up, but we have some gaps to fill and that’s part of the agenda for my husband and me while we’re at the lake. An extended admin date, if you will.
I had sort of planned to let this week slide and skip a newsletter, but my husband, Austin (a resident cool dad) put together some Father’s Day recs, and we wouldn’t want his efforts to go unnoticed, now would we?
He did the same thing last year and I’m told all those recs still stand too if you’re looking for more.
“There are a lot of dorky water bottles out there, but this one is cool. All Snow Peak is cool, titanium, Japanese, kinda expensive, what else is there to say? It’s the perfect gift stuff: slightly practical, slightly impractical.”
“French brand. I have a couple pairs from here and love them. These are fun and wacky — you can let practicality slide a little when it’s a gift. These are cool too.” (Editor’s Note: I just bought myself these! Have been looking for a fun, large aviator shape and these fit the bill!)
“It’s the perfect jacket for pretty much every occasion. You can dress it up, you can dress like a cowboy, or wear it with shorts to walk your dog. Works with everything. As far as jackets go, I’m also into this cotton canvas one and you can’t go wrong with Arc’teryx from a sporty perspective.”
“It’s BIG. Easier than a duffle and allows you to dump all your gear in and then throw it in your car and be on your way. It’s the perfect accessory to all your other hobbies: cycling, surfing, golf, whatever.”
“It’s a cool watch that’s nice, but not $5k. A good reason not to wear an Apple Watch.”
“Taschen does Star Wars.”
“This is a great one. Don’t get the red. The tortoise or black is great. And if he likes fancy wine glasses, these.”
“I got it for my Dad (a big golfer) a couple years ago and it was a hit. It’s nice to have something in your golf bag that’s not plastic and is a good first step before investing in a MacKenzie bag.”
“We all know Blundstones. This is a new style with a wedge sole that not everyone has and they’re lighter.”
“These are great because you don’t need to use them just for tools. You can put whatever you want in it. It’s pretty too so it can be out as its own thing.”
There we have it! Reminded me that I need to finalize a certain someone’s gift this weekend…
Til next time!
xx Ariane
