Hey folks, both young and old!
It’s been a while!
The past year has been filled to the brim with income uncertainty due to A LOT of day job shifts. Between going from one gig to another to a different contract at the same gig to that contract disappearing to unemployment to a freelance gig to the next freelance gig to a whole ‘nother freelance gig to a new job to anew ole at that new job, it’s been a little hard to get creative on kid stories and zines. Being creative is fun, but sometimes life gets hectic, and it’s hard.
It’s hard to feel like yourself when so much is changing around you and you’re going through so many changes.
I’m someone who often beats himself up when he’s not writing or creating. And ya know what, it’s not really helpful. So I share all this for any kid or adult reading who puts undo pressure on themselves to do more. Sometimes life happens and we gotta take care of things before we get back to being creative. And that’s okay! You are not alone!
Thankfully, things are stabilizing, and I’m feeling more like myself. All to say, more stories are coming!
Other updates:
I dropped off new zines at Spoke & Word Books in Milwaukie for Indie Bookstore Day.
And I made some silly basketball t-shirts because I can’t stop watching the NBA Playoffs. Once youth basketball coaching season slows down, my brain is free to wander… and then shirts get made. Especially when CJ McCollum is cooking, and gives us a new “I’m trying Jennifer”-level quote.
More soon!
