Accessibility Statement
At The Centre for Collective Intelligence, our vision is to revolutionise public engagement by helping organisations harness the collective intelligence of people through digital technologies and experiences. A key part of our goal is to ensure that diverse and seldom-heard voices are heard. We are dedicated to ensuring that our web application, Zeitgeist, is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology.
Compliance status
Zeitgeist is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
We know that some parts of the Zeitgeist platform are not fully accessible yet. The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:
- Zeitgeist does not currently support zoom features
- Zeitgeist does not currently allow viewers to change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- The Zeitgeist experience isn’t perfectly optimised for screen readers (and some other assistive technologies) yet. Necessary improvements include the heading tags (the tags that clarify the hierarchy of information) and semantic markers (the markers that describe the meaning of the content). The sequence order will also need some adjustments once the above elements are corrected.
- Not all our input fields correctly identify input purpose.
- Not all Zeitgeist screens optimally support both landscape and portrait orientation.
- There are some occurrences where our old design system is still in use, and therefore some design elements that do not meet the minimum colour contrast requirements.
What we're doing to improve accessibility
We are actively working towards compliance with the WCAG 2.2 AA regulations, by taking the following steps:
- We are in the process of creating detailed content guidelines across the areas of audio, visual, video, and text. These guidelines will define how the content & stimulus of all future workshop content should be created in order to be accessible.
- We are also in the process of implementing new functionality that supports both portrait and landscape orientation. Although this will not initially be for all screen types.
- We plan to carry out a holistic audit of Zeitgeist with a particular focus on improving keyboard navigation, and improving the experience for screen readers.
- We will be implementing a new design system that meets / exceeds the minimum colour contrast requirements.
