The mobile version of SunVox is NOT a stripped-down version of the desktop version. Both are full-fledged SunVox applications with nearly identical sound. You can start composing a track on a powerful computer and continue on an older phone, or vice versa. On slower devices, the CPU load can be reduced by following these tips.
All composition elements (synths, effects, samples, patterns, etc.) are stored in a single file. This approach allows you to easily load projects created many years ago: you won't have to search for old versions of plugins to get them playing correctly. Try doing this in another DAW with plugin support :)
SunVox can be run on single-board computers (SBCs) such as Raspberry Pi, PINE64, CHIP, and others. These computers have GPIO pins directly on the board, allowing you to attach LEDs, relays, buttons, and other electronic gadgets. SunVox will allow your music to communicate with these elements. For example, LEDs can blink in sync with the beat, or a button can change a synthesizer parameter.
In the days of slow internet, tracker music was popular - small files in MOD, XM, and other formats that sometimes contained very good quality tracks. Today, thousands of such files are available on the modarchive website, where they can be downloaded and opened in SunVox for playback, reworking, and searching for interesting samples.
SunVox lets you compose microtonal music at frequencies far removed from the classical 12-step temperament. There's even a built-in Theremin emulator, allowing you to play freely without relying on notes.
