About the President

Dr. Prabhas V. Moghe is the sixth president of The University of Texas at Dallas, one of the nation’s fastest-growing research universities, widely recognized for its innovation, upward trajectory, and commitment to student success. As president, Moghe is focused on advancing UT Dallas as a leading public research university, strengthening interdisciplinary discovery, expanding access to high-impact education, and deepening partnerships that drive regional and global innovation.

Moghe previously served successively as executive vice president, provost, and vice chancellor for research and innovation at Rutgers University, New Jersey’s flagship public university. In the most recent role, he provided strategic leadership over academic and research operations across four chancellor-led campuses and 29 academic units. His leadership emphasized faculty excellence, student achievement and the expansion of collaborative research initiatives across disciplines.

Moghe’s academic journey spans three leading institutions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University Department of Chemical Technology at the University of Bombay in 1988, followed by a PhD in chemical engineering (bioengineering) from the University of Minnesota in 1993. After completing postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, he joined the Rutgers faculty in 1995, launching a distinguished career in research, innovation, and academic leadership.

An accomplished scholar, educator, and innovator, Moghe has earned widespread recognition for excellence in both teaching and research. His pioneering work has advanced cancer detection technologies and nanotechnology-based therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease. Over the course of his career, he has secured more than $30 million in research support, generated intellectual property that has led to licensing opportunities, mentored 29 doctoral students, authored more than 130 highly cited peer-reviewed publications, and delivered over 300 invited and plenary lectures worldwide. His contributions have been recognized through fellowships in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Biomedical Engineering Society, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, and the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering.

Throughout his career, Moghe has been guided by a commitment to academic excellence, student success, and the conviction that research and innovation can expand opportunity and advance the human condition.
