Runaway to the Stars: Page 288

Idrisah tormented from all sides.

EDIT: Accidentally published the page after this first. If you saw that no you didn't.

Transcript

Idrisah stares up at Talita, surprised by her response. Gillie nudges into Idrisah with a cheeky grin.

Gillie: (ASL) I trust them enough to fly us to Nexus Jovia without murdering us in our sleep!

Idrisah hunches her shoulders and grips her forehead, grimacing.

Gillie: (ASL) If they want to avoid the law, us going missing after boarding their ship would be WAY more suspicious than just dropping us off and leaving!

Idrisah: (ASL) BUT—

She turns to Gillie, faltering, breaking up in a nervous sweat.

Idrisah: (ASL) I— We... We would get charged a cancellation fee on our ferry ship booking...

Gillie put her hands on her hips, looking insulted.

5 DAYS LEFT on the Almost Real Kickstarter! Stretch Goals Announced!

The campaign may be funded but it’s not over till the fat worm sings— the stretch goals for Almost Real: A Speculative Biology Zine have been announced! And thanks to the help of over 650 backers, we’ve already hit the first one!

A Volume 6 cover critter "gachapede" emerging from a light blue capsule. It has 5 pairs of paddle-like appendages in rainbow colors that look like little wings. Each segment holds a different amount from $67,000 at the top to $47,000 at the bottom, with tiers of "Third artist bonus, book 1 thumb index, second artist bonus, book 1 dust jacket, and first artist bonus" on one side, and the other complimenting the main items, being "Triples the extra pay, free 6x9" sticker print for all physical backers, doubles the extra pay, and Volume 6 cover upgrade. The $47,000 stretch goal portion is filled in with purple, reading 7/28 CLEAR!

The money for these goals goes directly to artist paychecks, additional goodies, and book upgrades; such as thumb tabs for each volume on Book 1’s pageblock! You know, those fancy little dents on encylopedias and dictionaries?

A doodle of Tango and Swing conversing over what thumb tabs/indexes are. Swing isn't quite getting it.

If you’re interested in reading hundreds of pages of gorgeous fully illustrated speculative zoology, botany, mycology, phycology, and more, check out the campaign now! You’ve got five days left to get in!

Almost Real: A Speculative Biology Zine Returns!!

Kickstarter banner featuring the covers of both Almost Real Volume 5, and Almost Real Book 1.

Hi all! Almost Real: A Speculative Biology Zine is back from its hibernation with TWO new books: a brand spanking new issue all about pop culture— non-human popular media, critters from video game tropes, pulp fiction monsters, engineered GMO pets, you name it— as well as a big thick book compiling the first five volumes of the magazine in one! This includes the first two magazines that have gone out of print due to reprinting costs. It also has new material in it, I drew an entry for each of the five cover critters!

I’m so glad we could finally bring Almost Real back, and I’m delighted to see we already have over 130 backers! Our goal is fairly high because we are printing multiple books and want to be able to pay all our contributors and manufacturers well, but I think we can do it!

That all for now. As a closer here’s some glamor shots of interior mockups:

Only 8 HOURS Left on the Runaway to the Stars Kickstarter, All Stretch Goals Met!

We got to our final stretch goal, the fountain pen zine add-on!

$150,000 FOUNTAIN PEN ZINE

While the RttS book will be available online and in stores after the campaign, the two add-on zines are exclusive to the Kickstarter. The AMA zine compiles all three (1, 2, 3) of the old character ask sessions into a single fancy book, and the fountain pen zine compiles a bunch of drawings that I’ve mostly only published on my Patreon (or not at all) featuring worldbuilding, character art, and some cute comics and interactions. (Also, fear not, the Reader Questions that have been posting on this site in between book chapters will be included in the main graphic novel!)

For information on how to add these zines to your pledge, check out this campaign update.

Thank you again for overfunding the book by an order of magnitude! I am blown away by the support, and very excited to tell more stories in this universe!
