I’ve been reading The Deep Range by Arthur C. Clarke, which takes place in a future in which Man has conquered the oceans and begun to farm whales. This is an interesting premise, but the book is a bit slow going and hamfisted at times, with many outdated ideas about the relationship between men and women that seem unrealistic for a book that aims to take place in the future of 1957 rather than in the present of 1957. Anyway, it’s not bad and it may get better as I get further in.
