New Sonics Coming to Cube

Publisher and developer Sega announced today that it has shipped one million units of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for Nintendo's next-generation console worldwide. The company also revealed that it is underway with two new GameCube Sonic titles including another in the Sonic Adventure series and Sonic Mega Collection. The firm will also release Sonic Advance 2 for Game Boy Advance, it noted.

"Building upon the excellent worldwide sales and incredible success of 'Sonic Adventure 2 Battle' and 'Sonic Advance,' Sega is determined to develop and release new titles in the Sonic The Hedgehog series that will appeal to the growing audience of gamers worldwide," said Tetsu Kayama, Chief Operating Officer, Sega Corporation.

Sega said that further details regarding both GameCube titles would be announced at a later date.

It seems logical to assume, though, that the next installment in the Sonic Adventure series will carry along the traditional play mechanics and style of past entries. Additionally, it seems that Sonic Mega Collection could be a compilation of classic Sonic games rolled into one massive package. Great news for GameCube owners on both fronts.
