Sega Kills MIL CD Format

And the reason is warrented.

According to Famitsu.com, a slight incompatibility has developed in Sega's Dreamcast-related lineup of products. The main Dreamcast unit beginning with the special line-up of Sakura Wars-brand pink systems and continuing through all future production runs are incompatible with the so-called MIL CD format disks. These CD disks contain, in addition to audio, a track of computer data that can be read by the Dreamcast, resulting in a graphical display as you listen to the music. See this MIL CD review for more details.

Apparently, this decision was a conscious one by Sega. The company does not want game data that's stored on a CD to be played by the Dreamcast, as this is the primary means through which Dreamcast software is pirated. The MIL CD format will no longer be supported as a result of this, so once the remaining supply of product drops from retail, the format is officially extinct.
