"Australia and New Zealand are in a unique situation where their telecommunications system is different from the UK, Europe and Japan, so additional modifications have to be made to the browser disc to ensure that the console is fully Internet compatible day 1."
In addition to making sure that the console will be Internet compatible at launch, Steve also pointed out that Ozisoft most definitely wanted to have at least 10 games available from at launch, with new software being released every week up until Christmas.
Bearing all of that in mind, it does seem to be for the best. As for the American and European markets, their releases are still pencilled in for the 9th and 23rd of September respectively. Once dates for the Australian and New Zealand debuts are revealed, we'll let you know.
