Fleeing from their violent father, siblings Lucía and Adrián take refuge in a remote mansion. Buit Lucía uncovers a terrifying secret: their neighbours are part of a criminal network that kidnaps teenage girls to make snuff films, and they intend to get rid of the siblings. As Lucía fights to protect her brother, she must face a dark family curse that follows them into their newfound sanctuary.

Grimmfest says: The new film from Gustavo Hernández, director of the classic “single take” horror thriller THE SILENT HOUSE, this places two abused siblings on the run into a possibly haunted former family home, then has the place invaded by a gang of sociopathic snuff movie making sex traffickers. But the two teens prove a lot more resourceful than expected, and one of them is far more dangerous than at first appears… A masterful mash-up of several tried and tested terror tropes, where half the fun lies in anticipating how they will collide and be played off against one another, this is at heart a classic “Predator Finds Themselves As Prey” scenario, but handled with sufficient genre smarts, narrative skill, and pitch-perfect pacing and timing, to keep the viewer constantly on edge, trying to guess how things will play out. Add to that one of the bleakest, most despairing depictions of vampirism since LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, and this is a film with some serious emotional weight, too, as we realise precisely what the sister is dealing with, and how it will most likely end for her. Tense, subtly played, creepy as hell, beautifully shot, with a fine use of location, a cute camera-fitted cat, and one of the most disturbing and haunting scenes in the entire festival (you will know it when you see it!), this is a roaring return from a genre master.
