Did my civic duty and cast my vote this morning.
This year, most of the races are uneventful in my area. The highlight has been a (somewhat desperate) campaign by the commonwealth’s Republican party to get people to vote out Democratic majority of the state Supreme Court. I was delighted to vote retain for our sitting justices.
Let’s face it. Things are bad right now.
Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, it’s hard to be happy about anything at the moment, unless you’re, I don’t know, a bridge troll, I guess? You need something to take your mind off things for a bit so that you don’t spend your nights and weekends staring into the Void.1 Sure, there are innumerable excellent podcasts about history, news, and politics that you could consume, and perhaps you should. But if you want to keep your sanity, you occasionally need some time away from them.
The New York Times reports that a Seattle-based company has announced that they will be increasing the minimum wage for all of their employees to $70,000 per year.
“The market rate for me as a C.E.O. compared to a regular person is ridiculous, it’s absurd,” said Mr. Price, who said his main extravagances were snowboarding and picking up the bar bill.
