Proxmox
Proxmox Datacenter Manager available at https://smallpox.int.devhack.net:8006,
credentials happening with oauth
To use
currently all devhack members have VM creation priveleges
accept the bad cert, devhack sso as auth method
and then new vm :3
please select the "members-pool" as the pool. or your own pool if one's been created for you.
isos are located on the "ceph-test" disk. disk store is called "redundant". try not to allocate more than you need.
upon creation, it might take a second for it to show up on the main list / search successfully
manually set cpu type to host unless you have a very good reason not to, otherwise your VM's performance will be horrible
How to isos
currently, there's no real way to add your own CD/DVD disk isos to the intial VM creation list. if you have proxmox root access you can drop them in
/var/lib/vz/template/iso, and if you have ceph-test volume access you can drop them in that OSD. (But who knows how that works! maybe see ceph)
to upload ISOs follow this guide here: https://edywerder.ch/proxmox-upload-iso/
specifically you can't see the storage devices on proxmox if you use the wrong view, specifically "pool view"
you should upload these to the ceph-test storage unit, probably.
refer to Templates for creating a new vm template
Storage
Ceph is set up to use all of the 1TB ssds in the hosts (except one on each host because ellie is a fool and a jester) and right now has 2 pools available for your consumption:
`redundant` that tries to keep at least 2 replicas of everything stored between the 3 hosts in the cluster on flash
and
`redundant-hdd` that tries to keep at least 2 replicas of everything stored between the 3 hosts in the cluster on spinning rust
Ideally you should store your information on one of these pools. each host also has a local-lvm that ideally you would avoid using unless you know where the dragons are.

permissions !! ??
ok, so devhack members aren't given proxmox admin by default and that's fine. they can add themselves as administrators to pools, and hopefully can create a pool for themselves (or at least are given a pool ?????)
once you add yourself as an administrator, refresh the page so the UI updates
seems devhack-members have access to put their VMs in any resource pool
