In 2005 during Apple's transition to Intel processors they released one final set of PowerPC architecture Macs. The PowerMac G5 Quad being the last (and most powerful) of this lineage.
This machine currently lives in the /dev/hack Sun Room. With an ATi Radeon X1950 XT and 16GB of RAM it is upgraded as fast as the machine can possibly go.
It runs OS X 10.5 Leopard (PowerPC) and has numerous games and apps (The Sims, Halo, Photoshop, iLife and others)
Users can (and are encouraged to) install more games and apps. The /dev/hack account can be logged into with no password. Installing apps will prompt for a password but the user can simply hit "OK" to continue without one.
The machine is also connected to Compu-Global-Hyper-Mega-Net for "period accurate" retro networking access and software. But regular internet access is also available through that.
