At night the unbearable heat of the day becomes just a bit less opressive, the darkness covers most of dirt, with only finer buildings lit-up, and the flies are asleep. This is then the best time to walk around the city - despite all the poverty around, I felt it was safe to do so, at least in the European Quarter. [read more] |

Kata Beach is a relaxing spot that is lovely for a holiday where you need to just unwind and relax. It can get pretty busy I guess, with some big resorts in its vicinity, but its not garish like Patong. Great Meeting + New VT Memento = Smashing Success
When Keida84 decided to visit London, little did she suspect that a posting in the Meeting Calendar by her VT friend Jenniflower would result in one of the largest VirtualTourist get-togethers yet. More than 88 members from all over Europe, plus as far as Australia, Malaysia and the US, came together to meet, greet and eat with fellow VTers, some of which they had known for years, but had never met in person. The sunny day in London started with a tour of the London Towers, followed with shopping and a lunch at Covent Gardens, and ended with the overtaking of a new, Piccadilly located restaurant, Il Pomodorino Ristorante, where a VT staff member introduced and passed out the new "VT Patch".
As all VT meetings go, there were pictures, postcard signings, and sincere promises of "when we meet again". So if you see a jacket, luggage or a backpack sewn with a VT Logo Patch, you'll know that lucky person experienced this wonderful event.
We LOVE hearing from VirtualTourist members and visitors alike. We frequently get notes just letting us know that you're out there and you're enjoying VT.
