Recently I've had someone submit a site made with the template provided on a free server. Please read the rules; I Dream in HTML is a clique for webdesigners, not someone who can slap up a pre-made layout. I've also had someone submit a layout from layoutland.com.

I do not accept pre-fabricated layouts. They do not exhibit your skill as a webdesigner. Thank you, come again.

You've probably heard of jokes, commercials, and the like with hardcore computer geeks saying things like "I dream in code", and they get hired for a job with that single comment, right? Well this clique is for those hardcore web designers out there. People who become very attached to their sites and would rather sit in front of a computer tapping away at the keyboard into late hours of the night rather than pretty much anything else. People who dream in HTML!
Do you spend most of your time on the computer building new sites, layouts, or content updates for your site? Do you find yourself surfing the 'net purely for inspirational strikes? Is web designing one of your most passionate hobbies? Is a web designer a career choice for you? Have you met most of your online friends through your site? If you've answered yes to any of these questions, this clique just might be for you!

You must have a site. This is a given.

You must have knowledge of HTML. No Maxpages, Expages, Homestead Homepage Builder, Geocities Site Builder, etc., etc., etc.

If you got your layout from a graphics site, I will not accept you. I cannot judge your HTML knowledge based on someone else's work.

I expect your site to look generally pleasing without any broken images or links, loading time to not be tremendous, or to have my browser crash.

Blogs are very questionable. With most journal sites like Blogger, the publishing site pretty much does most of the work for you. Unless I see some extra sharp designs, I probably won't accept you.

The code must be up when I view your site. Put the code up BEFORE you join to save us both grief. You will not have a warning as to when I will check your site.

Don't pester me with frantic e-mails about whether I've accepted you or not; you'll see your name up on the list if you check back.

If you'd like to change your URL or your name/alias, please send me an e-mail stating where on which page your information is located. Thank you!

Please do not direct link, as I will be very upset and will not accept you to the clique, right-click the file and save to your hard drive, then upload the image to your own site. Direct-linking uses up all my bandwidth and makes the pages harder for people to view.
