e-waste

At a recent workshop on rare earths at Christ Church, Winchester we were challenged to gather the electronic waste in our houses and dispose of it responsibly while keeping a diary.

The first step was to dig out old phones, laptops, etc. which were no longer useful:

2 laptops, 9 phones, 2 tablets, etc.

A family member added 10 phones (!) and an iMac.

I booked an appointment for Jamie’s Computers to collect these items for recycling, opting for free data disposal using the Eurosoft ZeroData hard drive eraser.

Jamie’s has a good reputation and a trustworthy approach to data disposal. They collected the items this morning and I was given a Eurosoft receipt.

If you live in the Southampton area, why not dig out your e-waste and arrange for Jamie’s to collect it. They take most items except old cathode ray tube (CRT) monitors.
