Storyline masterpost
Here is where you find the various storylines that take place in the Takeoverse. These can range from standalone, independent little stories to straight up mega-long sagas, with small introduction blurbs for each of them and more in-depth pages for each storyline.
The current storylines featured on this page are as follows:
- The World-Takeover-ers
- Sir Stirling's Apartment Complex for Wayward Souls
- Studio ElectroNull
- House of Dreams
- Aeonian Brigade
The World-Takeover-ers (WTO)
(Go here to see the characters in this storyline!)
The most prominent storyline in the Takeoverse as well as the first one created, the World-Takeover-ers (WTO for short) follows a supervillain team going by the name “the World-Takeover-ers,” as they attempt to, you guessed it, take over the world, except that (a) they are incompetent, and (b) by the time the team makes their debut, humanity is already in shambles and just barely manages to not collapse into a heap of nothingness, and the world is now crawling around with sentient objects, superpowers or magic or whatever you'd call it, man-eating monsters that seemingly manifest out of nowhere, and eldritch abominations that occasionally enter our world to mess with our Euclidean geometry. Sure does make taking over the world a lot more challenging huh.
And so, with an equally zany cast of supporting characters by their side, the World-Takeover-ers and their quest to take over the world is bound to be filled with juvenile slapstick humor, nonsensical laughs, and, wait, is that existential horror? Wait put that back put that back put that back-
Yeah. WTO is the storyline I focus on the most in the Takeoverse, as well as how the Takeoverse got its name. Most of the stuff I yap about on this site is WTO-related, I guess.
Sir Stirling's Apartment Complex for Wayward Souls (SSACfWS, or Wayward Apartments)
(Go here to see the characters in this storyline!)
Sir Stirling's Apartment Complex for Wayward Souls (initials SSACfWS) is centered around a small, quiet, and utterly unassuming apartment of the same name (often shortened to simply "Wayward Apartments" for everyone's convenience, though - who in their right mind gives an apartment such a wordy name?). Nestled in the hazy suburbs and away from the bustling center of the city, the various residents of Wayward Apartments are used to the unchanging rhythm of normalcy that is their daily life, and it seems that everything would go on that way - that is, until Sherbert arrives.
Sherbert Stirling, youngest of the Stirling Family, found the property falling into his hands in the form of an unexpected inheritance, and immediately decided, with his young, idealistic heart, that he was going to make the apartment thrive once more. And so, Sherbert's arrival and subsequent arrangements shake up the precarious balance that is the peaceful lives of the tenants, and of course, unearth secrets deep and dark lying within...
Oh, and also there are monsters. And eldritch abominations. And also the entire freaking apartment is sentient. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Studio ElectroNull (SEN)
(Go here to see the characters in this storyline!)
A very very heavy WIP, but still, here it is I guess.
Freshly fired from a big animation studio, ambitious young animator Cynthia Flemming has no choice but to join the only studio that would take her in - which just so happens to be situated back in her hometown, a place she'd so desperately wanted out from.
Settled into Studio ElectroNull, Cynthia soon finds - to her absolute disappointment - that this studio has only produced one (1) animation series with only one (1) season (in fact, the season finale just aired last week). Also, it absolutely sucks.
And so, with complicated schemes and dark secrets lurking both in the studio and beyond, and the release date of the second season creeping nearer and nearer, can Cynthia survive the horrors, her new bizarre coworkers, or save the second season from being a complete train wreck full of plot holes and pacing problems? Find out on the next episode of - Studio ElectroNull!!
House of Dreams (HoD)
(Go here to see the characters in this storyline!)
The battle against the Pseudo-Nexus - possibly the greatest, fiercest, and most wicked world-ending threat the Kingdom has ever faced in history - finally comes to a close, and the people rejoice as the Heroes of Light emerge victorious, restoring peace and prosperity to the Kingdom.
Although there are still threats to the people of the Kingdom in the form of Umbrae - shadowy wisps that attack people who get too close - rest assured that the Umbrae are creatures both common and weak, whose forms dissipate with a slash of a sword, and not to mention our heroes are incredibly good at dealing these blows; and sure, occasional rogue monster attacks still happen, but more often than not our heroes are overqualified for the job. As such, the Kingdom is allowed its well-deserved rest, and the people go on about their daily lives with merry bliss - and the beloved heroes are allowed more time to unwind as well.
Look! Floating on the skies above the royal palace is the House of Dreams, the headquarters of the Heroes of Light, where the heroes - and some former-villains-turned-friends - reside! Aren't you curious about what they're up to when they're not training or fighting to defend the Kingdom? Look no further, for this storyline covers all the squabbling and chaos and fun shenanigans happening around the House of Dreams, and contains absolutely nothing horrifying. Probably. Perhaps. Maybe.
Aeonian Brigade (AB)
(Go here to see the characters in this storyline!)
Content warnings for this storyline include: unethical megacorps, unethical people, unethical practices, and just about everything you'd expect in a generic cyberpunk story or whatever. There's also elements of cannibalism and possession stuff (essentially taking control of someone else's body) regarding the characters. This applies to this entire arc in general as well as the characters within. You have been warned. Not like the other arcs don't have that, but the descriptions for this one on this site are more obvious and blatant.
Also, note that these CWs also apply for the more in-depth page of the storyline itself, as well as everything that page leads to from now on. Now that I've written the CWs here already, I'll be laxer about the CWs and spoiling stuff in those pages. You have been warned!
Once you have heeded the CWs above, click to read the introduction to this storyline.
It is no secret that our world is run by megacorps - gargantuan companies with endless branches providing products covering every possible aspect in the lives of the average citizen. On the other hand, it is an unspoken compromise among most who know that the megacorps are not as pure and benevolent as their public image suggests - immoral practices and cutthroat competition between the megacorps occur on a daily basis. And who better to carry out these not-always-perfectly-ethical deeds with than mercenaries?
Mercenaries can work alone or come in groups, and each mercenary group has their own code, values, and specializations - but anyone with the cash can find some merc team willing to do their bidding, no questions asked. Of course, each merc also has their own reasons for becoming one - desperation, greed, thrill, personal beliefs, or perhaps the ambition to work the system to their favor - but once again, in the system, no questions asked.
But anyways. Our focus this time is on one such mercenary team among many - the Aeonian Brigade - as they, too, go through missions, training sessions, and the dark underbelly of the world, and try to survive and maybe also screw over one another, intentionally or not.
Do comedically mundane things happen in their daily lives despite the whole "mercenaries who literally kill people" thing? Absolutely.
Is evil itself comedically mundane? Only occasionally, but you'll see it in its full glory when it happens.
Do any of them have hidden ulterior motives beyond just the money? Who knows.
Do The Horrors happen? Well, you'll have to wait and see...
