There Might Be Cupcakes Episode 106: Adulting in Pink: #genx #prettyinpink #movies
3 weeks ago
Finishing up a podcast episode on this being the 40th anniversary of Pretty in Pink, and how differently I view it as an adult than I did as a 14-year-old. Recording either later tonight or early in the morning. Yes, I have viewed the original ending. This is going to be fun. #podcast

UVA actually has opened an Ehlers-Danlos clinic, and my referral has actually been accepted! I got the call early this morning. After so long of struggling on my own, I will have a specialist in this disorder working with me. I can’t quite believe it.

I might be alone in this, but I have enjoyed the snow being on the ground for more than a week. It's the Boston University grad student in me, I think. I miss walking to class in the snow. I used to wear tights and leggings underneath my jeans to keep warm, and loved every minute of it.

The charter and dedication plaques for the Little Free Library have arrived! Eat Hamner, Jr. was the real John Boy Walton from right here in Nelson County; Margaret Hufstedler was my mother-in-law, and she wrote music and taught adults to read here for decades.

My first Little Free Library has a home as of today! It will live at the Oakland Historical Museum in Nelson Co. Virginia, next to the Earl Hamner, Jr. book statue and in his honor (and in my MIL's honor). Waiting for the steward no. to show up on the map. .

Finished by Kim E. Nielsen--read it in one day--and I have Thoughts and Feelings about my identity as that person in the red power wheelchair. Nielsen really connected the intersection of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism throughout our history.
