Why are we here? Truly: what purpose do we assign to our lives? We’re only here for a short time, and if we are to make the most of it, we’ve got to have some goals. I’m fortunate enough to choose what I can spend some of my time on. Single Stage to Orbit Press is my chosen opportunity to creatively express myself.

SSTO Press is a small imprint that makes games that draw attention to modern horrors through a speculative lens.

I pledge to recognize the dignity and worth of all people. I will not discriminate against or devalue anyone because of their age, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, social class, faith, neurotype, or physical appearance. I commit to treating others fairly and rejecting prejudice in all its forms. This is the People Pledge. This commitment is somehow political, though I think it’s simply having good manners.

The logical corollary to the above is that I also fully oppose generative AI. It has no place in my life, and thus it has no place any part of SSTO Press. I make an active effort to ensure my tools exclude genAI (or ignore it if not possible), my contracts forbid it, and my work does not enrich those who do use it.

Why am I here? I’m only here for a good time, not a long time.
