BLAST [Yale University]

The BLAST (Bouchet Low-Earth Alpha/Beta Space Telescope) is a scientific investigation mission to map the distribution of galactic cosmic radiation across the night sky using a custom-built scintillator cosmic ray detector as well as to demonstrate a gravity gradient boom as a passive attitude stabilization approach by The Yale University built on a 2U CubeSat.

The satellite will identify and count alpha particles and beta particles in the rays, and measure the radiation energy around Earth. BLAST will contribute to the ongoing search for the origins and nature of these rays, which will provide insight into the origins of the universe.

It was selected in 2019 by NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI) to be launched as part of the ELaNa program.
