Some people are bag people. Some are shoe people. I’m a hat person—I see a cute hat, I put it on my head, it joins the legions of hats hanging on hooks and seated on shelves around my house. Hi pals, Zainabb here, doing my best to be cosy in a world filled with horrors. I don’t just mean the type of cosy where you light a candle, bundle up with sixty blankets and plushies, and play a game where you have the time and capacity to grow food and craft things. This sort of escapism is important sometimes, but I’m also finding cosiness in befriending our local crows and squirrels, in attempting to grow flowers (my chaotic squirrel friends keep digging up the seedlings), and in spending time with loved ones watching films like Sinners with casts of colour resisting white supremacy. Keep on resisting, feeling joy, and connecting—and playing your favourite games when you need to rest in between.

Hi friends, Zainabb here, living an especially cosy game life recently to help me cope with endless flare-ups and deep heartbreak as the genocide of Palestinians only seems to worsen and Sewage Island keeps trying to destroy trans lives. I’ve been playing Minami Lane which soothes me with its pastel streets and community cats to pet, and I just finished Arctic Eggs, which is less aesthetically cosy (you’re frying cigarettes and cockroaches in a dying world, after all) but the weirdness of this game brought me a lot of joy and hope.
You can currently get over 450 TTRPGs for $5 with the TTRPGs for Trans Rights – Ohio Bundle on itch.io, which is raising money for TransOhio and Kaleidoscope Youth Center.

Welcome back to Get Your Game On Variety Hour! I’ve started playing Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, and would you believe that this game stars the president of the United States? Yeah, I wouldn’t have believed it either, but it does, and I’m still reckoning with that even if the game doesn’t seem interested in doing so.
