Pikmin 2 is a game about collecting "treasure" from Earth in the form of mostly human-made products and items. One of the distinguishing features of the game is that the treasures sometimes model real-life brands like Duracell and Dr. Pepper.
Pikmin 2 has three distinct regional treasure hoards, each with unique treasures: US, JP, and PAL.
I'd like to try collecting all unique treasure models across all regional treasure hoards. You can see my current progress below highlighted in green for which treasures I've collected in at least one treasure hoard. I've since collected all 245/245 treasures (100%). This table is automatically generated as I collect more treasure (when playing on real GameCube hardware). Nintendo Switch treasures are tracked manually.
If you're on mobile I recommend scrolling left and right on the table to see all the columns.

The table is laid out in an approximate order for collection taking into account the region(s) the treasure is available in and the location in-game. I already own the US region copy of Pikmin 2, I've purchased a JP and PAL region copy from eBay.
You can see that at a minimum to collect every treasure you need to complete
the
The above treasure hoard was generated by copying the save data on my
Memcard Pro GC regularly over time via FTP. The script to generate the table above
from a directory of memory card dumps (.raw files)
is available on GitHub.
(2025-10-06) Done! After defeating the Titan Dweevil in JP Pikmin 2 I've collected each unique treasure model. This project is complete :)
(2025-10-05) Finally done with the US region, the Dimensional Slicer, Yellow Taste Tyrant, and Hypnotic Platter were the only non-JP treasures remaining the Wistful Wild. Now I plan to finish the last few floors of the Dream Den in the JP region, beat the final boss, and have a 100% save file for the first time!
(2025-09-22) Back from vacation and just completed the PAL treasure hoard with the final unique treasure: "Container of Knowledge".
(2025-09-09) Now using the PAL name ("Survival Container") for the Clabber Girl baking powder treasure instead of the US name ("Stringent Container") to avoid a collision in names between US, JP, and PAL. Also updated "Flame of Tomorrow" to use the correct icon for the JP region.
(2025-09-08) After a small Animal Crossing break, I'm back on the Pikmin 2 grind.
I've removed the "Switch" column for now, I'm focusing on playing more GameCube after all.
I've started really playing through the PAL region, just unlocked the Perplexing Pool.
My special sauce for the
(2025-07-22) Added cave sublevels to the treasures which required a special "look-back" logic when loading data from the list of save files. Also swapped the JP region to be first because I plan to have that save be 100%. This also puts the regions into "release order" (JP→US→PAL).
(2025-07-16) Decided to enter the Wistful Wild in the JP region and grab the Doomsday Apparatus and start the Cavern of Chaos to avoid any losing steam. I noticed that the weight had a label for 1 kilo ("1K") without the "G" for grams probably in reference to the 1,000 "Pikmin strength units" required to lift the treasure, but I wondered if that was the same across all regions. I'll have to double-check this when I enter the Wistful Wild in the US region.
(2025-07-15) I did some more reverse-engineering of the Pikmin 2 save file
format. Doing so, I discovered that 0x34 is the 4-byte offset of the current Cave ID
and 0x3B stores the current cave sub-level. Using this information I'm able to
better sort treasures found in caves and later will be able to accurately "know"
when treasures have been moved to different caves or sublevels across regions.
Also, I purchased my PAL region copy of Pikmin 2 for $70 USD, arriving in early August.
(2025-07-10) Only Submerged Castle remains for pre-Wistful Wild US and JP regions. I still need to do a purple Pikmin grind for the Doomsday Apparatus. I would prefer to complete PAL before venturing into the Wistful Wild in any region to provide some sense of progression. I realized that because PAL Pikmin 2 is ~$80 USD with shipping I'm paying approximately $10 USD per treasure... worth it?
(2025-06-29) Started the Subterranean Complex in the JP region for not only a single JP-exclusive treasure ("Alternative Reactor"), but also to see the JP-exclusive name for the "Spirit Flogger". In the JP region the name "社員の手本" roughly translates to "Model Employee" which may have been a bit too on-the-nose for the US region.
(2025-06-28) After traveling for 2 weeks straight I've finally returned home and had time to complete the Perplexing Pool in the JP region. I am particularly interested in the "Massive Receptacle" series of treasures so seeing the "Open Archive" JP-variant was quite fun to end the Submerged Castle!
(2025-06-13) I've imported the list of unique treasures from the
(2025-06-11) The list of treasures on Pikmin wikis doesn't have the complete information about uniqueness of models embedded into the tables. For example, the "Master's Instrument", "Decorative Goo", and "Flame of Tomorrow" treasures have unique models for the Japan region but don't have their own row.
"Master's Instrument" and "Decorative Goo" don't have a unique treasure hoard icon but "Flame of Tomorrow" does. I confirmed this by looking at Models Resource and Spriter's Resource and will be on the look-out for more region-specific variants missing from the table.
Wow, you made it to the end!
