I read Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s “Y: The Last Man” graphic novels shortly after we moved to California and am really curious to see how FX has managed to translate that to the screen, if at al faithfully. It looks intense.

• “Studies of conversation, both in the laboratory and in natural settings, show that when two people are talking, the mere presence of a phone on a table between them or in the periphery of their vision changes both what they talk about and the degree of connection they feel.” Exactly why I try to keep my phone out of sight more often than not, especially when out with others.
• Google’s AutoDraw AI-powered tool is kind of neat but also maybe not that smart yet.
• I missed Cinema Strangiato the first time around, but this new director's cut which features Neil Peart’s final recorded drum solo from the band’s last show in LA is enough of a reason to get me there on September 9th.
• Megazoid, the latest from the always great Font of the Month Club from DJR “pits square and circle against each other, contrasting blocky exteriors with counterforms that are mostly circular and cylindrical” — and creates something exciting and fun in the process.
• This massive fan-made Star Wars LEGO build is something else and full of so many little details.
• I like Star Wars, but wow, not sure I do enough for two nights at the Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience. Yowza.
• I dig this Arrow tee from Gary Hustwit’s Supergraphics collection, a collaboration with designer Barbara Stauffacher Solomon. Don’t skip the video about Barbara!
• James Edmondson’s excellent tips for drawing vectors (primarily type, but equally applicable to other shapes).
• Framing problems well is something I’ve found that is far-too-often skipped over in projects and it rarely ends well if you’re even able to get to something that resembles an end point. Some good, simple tips from Ben Holliday.
• I had a similar experience the first time I was able to return to the office and was reminded of the state it was left in and projects that felt incomplete, and almost forgotten entirely. I left the wall in our space as it was too.
• A deeply important read about teenagers and technology, including the problem that “we are forever elsewhere.” Much of this applies to adults too.

• This CMYK Tester web app from Jasper Stevenson is interesting if you want to get a quick idea of potential ways to color separate photographic images for printing on a Risograph.
• The Sketchbook Project needs your help, as does p98a in Berlin. The loss of either would be tragic.
• Black holes are still full of surprises and never not fascinating.
