At some point I will do a head to head comparison of HiFive Unmatched, Vision Five 2, Lichee Pi 4A, and Raspberry Pi 4B. I believe this little Lichee board below might win!

I am Richard W.M. Jones, a computer programmer. I have strong opinions on how we write software, about Reason and the scientific method. Consequently I am an atheist [To nutcases: Please stop emailing me about this, I'm not interested in your views on it] By day I work for Red Hat on all things to do with virtualization. I am a "citizen of the world".
My motto is "often wrong". I don't mind being wrong (I'm often wrong), and I don't mind changing my mind.
This blog is not affiliated or endorsed by Red Hat and all views are entirely my own.
have you got Fedora running on this yet Richard ?
Not yet – the network interface doesn’t get brought up by the installed Debian distro so I have to find an HDMI monitor and keyboard.
AWKWARD! Is the Distro currently on the EMMC the one that is supplied with it ? If so thats not so cool to have no NIC support .. I’ll be a good boy and hold of buying one of these until I see Octets coming out of all the ports 😉
Yes there’s a Debian distro on the eMMC (I assume, as I haven’t hooked up a monitor yet). It does in fact respond to pings, so I guess the actual problem is the distro doesn’t enable sshd by default.
An actual annoyance of the board is that they seem to have cheaped out on the Ethernet PHY. It’s one of those boards that gets a different MAC address on every boot 😦
Maybe a HDMI TV is in order …could also put your feetup and watch some TV 😉
Hi, does the Lichee include WiFi and Bluetooth? It seems most of this class of SBCs omit both (e.g. the OrangePi 5, the BeagleV-Ahead, etc.) I could maybe do without WiFi and use a bridge, but Bluetooth is a must (mice and headsets).
The sipeed site seems to say it’s there, but I read neither schematics nor Chinese 😦
Thanks, Ian
Wifi definitely works. There is a Bluetooth device reported by the kernel but I’ve not tried to use it.
Apparently the device driver is “rtk_btcoex”. I can’t find out anything else useful about the device itself since the board has no PCI and it’s not a USB device, so it’s probably presented through device tree or some nonsense.
TBH I would avoid this board and go for the VF2.
