Last year, I’ve been absent from last year’s Blaugust due to personal life struggles that affected both my mental and physical health. Today, I can say it’s bearable. However, I’m not here lamenting about my own struggles (well, most of the time). I’ll be talking about the Blaugust event, in which it’s an event about blogging!
Blaugust is a yearly event that is usually held by Mark Temple, commonly known as Belghast, author of Tales of the Aggronaut. Sadly, the community lost Belghast on July 2nd, 2026 due to cancer. I never knew Belghast personally, although I had few interactions with him when I was very new to Mastodon, the Fediverse, and the Blaugust event itself. However, the Blaugust community decided to continue with the event in honour and memory of Belghast, as the community believes he would want for this event to continue. My deepest condolences for those very close to him.
I decided to taking part in this year’s Blaugust as a form of appreciation for Belghast for his many contributions in the blogging space, as well as for re-challenging myself to make a blog post or any piece of content regularly. I know I’ve been like this for way too long, so at least this is one of the ways where I can constantly train myself to become more consistent while making sure to make time for any life errands and more importantly, myself.
If you’re not familiar about Blaugust before, or needs a refresher: Blaugust takes place in August which mainly focuses on blogging and has started to include other forms as well. The goal of this event is to stoke creativity among bloggers and other creators to mingle in a shared community while pushing each other to post regularly. Blaugust challenges you to post everyday within a month, in which you can get some achievements for it. Realistically, I’m not going to do that. Instead, I’m going to publish a blog post at least once a week. You can read more about Blaugust in this extensive post by Nerd Girl Thoughts. There are main themes for each week to help bloggers with ideas on what to write in their blog, in which I share below:
I will make some blog post related to the weekly themes, however; I also have some things that I want to talk about in this blog, mainly about my experiences with live-streaming, content creation, gaming and everything in between. It’s time to dust off this blog, after all.
