Replit, Inc., its subsidiaries, and affiliates (“Replit,” “we,” “our,” and/or “us”) value the privacy of individuals who use our website and related services (collectively, our “Services”). This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, and share personal data (“Personal Data”) from or about you when providing our Services. Beyond this Privacy Policy, your use of our Services is also subject to our Terms of Service.
1. Personal Data We Collect
We may collect certain Personal Data from or about you when providing the Services. The categories below describe the Personal Data that we collect.
Registration and Profile Data. We collect data associated with your account registration, including name, username, email address and phone number. If you sign up using a third party account (e.g. Google), this will include data associated with your account, including name, email address, and profile photo, consistent with your privacy settings on those services.
Content and Data You Create or Provide. We collect data and content that you create, upload, or otherwise provide through the Services. This could include code, project files, text, commands and prompts, and other inputs that you enter. We also collect content and responses generated through the Services, such as project names, revision history, and timestamps.
Collaboration and Group Data. We collect data about the groups, workspaces, and members in connection with the provision of the Services. This may include data about teams, organizations, or projects you join. We also collect data related to permissions, comments, and other interactions with content or users through the Services.
Usage and Interaction Data. We collect data about your interactions with our Services, like the pages or other content you view or interact with, the searches you conduct, the content you enter or submit, commands you type, the apps and projects you create, and the dates and times of your visits.
Communications. We collect data about and included in communications, including your name, email address, and the contents of communications. This could include messages and attachments that you send us or others and other information you choose to provide.
Payment and Transaction Data. We collect data related to transactions on the Service, including data about payment methods, billing details, transaction amounts, address, and subscription type. Payment data is primarily collected by third party service providers but we may receive certain payment related data such as the last four digits of payment cards, payment method and financial institution.
Device Data. We collect data about the device and software you use to access our Services, including internet protocol (IP) address, Internet Service Provider, web browser type, operating system version, phone carrier and manufacturer, application installations, device type and identifiers, and mobile advertising identifiers.
Location Data. We may infer your general location from other data we collect from and about you (for example, your IP address may indicate your general geographic region). We do not collect precise location information unless you have consented.
2. How We Collect or Receive Personal Data
Your Use of the Services. We receive Personal Data from users interacting with our Services. For example, we receive Personal Data when you register on our platform, when you create and build apps and projects, upload content and code to the platform, and submit prompts, commands and other inputs through the Services. We also receive data about your account and account settings, including group or workspace associations. We collect data when you interact with collaboration features that involve shared messages, content, and projects.
Automatically Through Our Services. When you use the Services, certain data is automatically collected from your device, including through system generated logs, events, and other activity.
From Cookies and Similar Technologies. We use a variety of tools, such as cookies, pixels, and similar technologies that automatically collect data about your use and interactions with the Services.
From Collaborators and Employers. Where a collaborator or employer manages access to the Services, we may receive data in connection with your access to or use of the Services. For example, we may receive contact data to identify and provision you access to the Services.
From Third Parties. We may receive additional data about you from third parties. This may include information from connected accounts, integrations, partners, and/or authentication providers. For example, where you choose to authenticate through a third party service we may receive certain data from them. We may also receive data from third parties such as data or marketing partners.
From Legal Claims, Disputes, Requests, and Orders. We may receive data from third parties or persons as part of claims, disputes, requests, and orders, including from law enforcement, government agencies, or other parties involved in or related to a matter.
3. How We Use Personal Data
We use the Personal Data we collect:
- For Account and Profile Registration. We use the data that we receive to enable you to create and register an account. Personal Data is also used for managing organizations, including adding and removing members, managing permissions, and establishing groups and workspaces.
- To Provide and Maintain Our Services. We use data to facilitate the Services, including to enable messages, prompts, and instructions to the Services, to upload code and relevant content, to create and publish web and mobile applications, to add collaborators and create workspaces, to tailor and personalize features and functionality based on your use of the Services, to manage roles and groups, to communicate and work with collaborators on projects and apps, to facilitate transactions and payments, and to utilize third party connectors and integrations.
- To Communicate With You. We use data to communicate with you in connection with the Services, provide you with updates and other information relating to our Services, respond to requests, respond to comments and questions, support collaboration among users, and otherwise provide customer support.
- For Marketing Purposes. We use your data for marketing purposes, including advertising on third party platforms, developing and providing promotional and advertising campaigns, analyzing the effectiveness of advertising and marketing campaigns.
- To Analyze, Maintain, and Enhance Our Services. We use data to troubleshoot and debug the platform and monitor and analyze activity on the platform, understand how features are used, personalize and make improvements in connection with providing the Services.
- For Preventing Fraud, Security, and Other Malicious Activity. We use data to detect, prevent, and investigate issues that may involve fraud, security, and other malicious activity. We may also use Personal Data to authenticate users and take steps that help secure the platform.
- For Legal and Compliance Purposes. We use data to comply with legal obligations under applicable law, enforce our terms of service, policies and other legal agreements or legal rights, and to investigate illegal or malicious activity on the platform.
4. How We Share and Disclose Personal Data
We share Personal Data with the following categories of third parties.
Service Providers. We may share Personal Data with vendors and service providers that process data on our behalf in connection with the provision of our Services. These entities may include, but are not limited to, hosting and cloud infrastructure providers, analytics, payment processing and billing providers, auditors, law firms, cloud services, customer support providers, marketing, security, machine learning, and fraud prevention companies.
Users and Others. Our Services enable collaboration on the platform and have social components in which you can find, collaborate on, and share content. Your profile, including your name, username, profile picture, code, and other profile information may be viewable and searchable by other users and search indexed by online search engines. The content you post to the Services, including your code and forum posts, may be displayed on the platform and visible to other users by default. Where your company or employer uses our Services, certain data about your activity and use of the platform will be made available to them.
As Required by Law and Similar Disclosures. We may access, preserve, and disclose your data and interactions on the platform with third parties, including government authorities. This may occur if we believe in good faith that doing so is required or appropriate to respond to law enforcement requests and legal process, such as a court order or subpoenas. We may also disclose data to protect your, our, or others’ rights, property, or safety.
Merger, Sale, or Other Asset Transfers. We may disclose and transfer Personal Data to service providers, advisors, potential transactional partners, or other third parties in connection with the consideration, negotiation, or completion of a corporate transaction such as where we are acquired by or merge with another company.
Affiliates. We may share Personal Data we receive with our corporate subsidiaries and affiliates for any of the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Third Party App Integrations. If you connect a third party application to our Services, we may share data such as code with that third party to enable the Services.
Consent. We may also disclose data from or about you with your permission or as instructed.
5. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Your Privacy Rights
We provide you the ability to manage and make choices regarding your Personal Data. Depending on your jurisdiction, and subject to certain exceptions and limitations, you or an authorized agent may exercise the following rights with respect to your Personal Data.
- Access and Portability: The right to access the Personal Data that we have collected about you. This includes the right to request details about the categories of Personal Data collected and the purposes for collecting the data.
- Deletion: The right to request deletion of the Personal Data that we have collected about you. Please note, we may keep certain data as permitted and/or required by applicable law.
- Opt out of Sale: The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your Personal Data. We may disclose Personal Data to advertising partners to provide you with personalized ads on third-party platforms, which may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” of Personal Data. To opt-out of the sale or sharing of Personal Data, use the Do Not Sell link at the footer of https://replit.com/.
- Correction: The right to request that we correct errors with respect to the data that we hold about you.
- Right to Appeal: You may have the right to appeal decisions with respect to a privacy rights request that you submit.
We do not and will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights. However, we reserve the right to deny certain requests as permitted under applicable law.
Exercising Your Rights
You can exercise certain rights (e.g. deletion and access) by emailing us at [email protected]. You can also submit a request to delete your Personal Data through your account settings.
An authorized agent may submit an access or deletion request on your behalf by sending a written authorization signed by you to [email protected]. We may still require you to directly verify your identity and confirm that you provided the authorized agent with permission to submit the request.
Additional Choices and Preferences
- Marketing Communications. You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails via the unsubscribe link provided within marketing emails. Even if you unsubscribe from marketing communications from us, you may continue to receive transactional communications in connection with the Services.
- App Notification Preferences. You can manage your app notification preferences within your account settings.
6. Additional Jurisdictional Disclosures
Legal Bases
Various global privacy laws (such as those in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Brazil) require that we have a “legal basis” to process your Personal Data. The legal bases on which we rely to process your Personal Data include:
- Consent. You have consented to the use of your Personal Data, for example, where legally required, to send you marketing communications.
- Contractual Necessity. We need your Personal Data to provide you with the Services, for example to facilitate your registration and respond to your inquiries.
- Compliance With a Legal Obligation. We have a legal obligation to use Personal Data, for example to comply with tax and accounting obligations.
- Legitimate Interest. We have a legitimate interest in using Personal Data for a business purpose that does not override your individual rights and interests. For example, we have a legitimate interest in using Personal Data for product development and internal analytics purposes, to improve the accuracy of our machine learning technologies such as code generation, and otherwise to improve the safety, security, and performance of our Services.
EU Representative and Your Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, Replit has appointed DataRep as its representative in the EU pursuant to Article 27 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As an alternative to contacting Replit directly, you may contact DataRep to exercise your rights through the following webform: https://www.datarep.com/replit. If you are located in the EEA or the UK, you are also able to raise any concerns with your local supervisory authority.
Cookies
Cookies are small files of letters and numbers that are stored on your browser or the hard drive of your computer, or small graphic images placed on web pages or in emails. They can be stored either for a single browser session or more permanently. We use cookies to collect data about your browsing activities, distinguish you from other users, provide functionality, and analyze use of the Services. The types of cookies we and third parties may use to collect data are as follows:
- Strictly Necessary Cookies. Some cookies are strictly necessary to make the Services available. We cannot provide you with the Services without these types of cookies.

7. Children
Our Services are directed to a general audience and are not directed to children under the age of 13. If we learn that a child is under the age of 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete the user’s data from our records as soon as practical. 8. Security
We use a variety of technical, organizational, and physical measures designed to safeguard data. However, as our Services are hosted electronically, we can make no guarantees as to the security or privacy of your data. We take measures to delete your data or maintain it in a de-identified form when it is no longer necessary to be kept in identifiable form, unless we are required by law to keep this information for a longer period.
9. Third Party Sites
Our Services may contain links to other websites, products, or services that we do not own or operate. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. Please be aware that this Privacy Policy does not apply to your activities with these third party services or any information you disclose to these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any information to them.
10. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Our Services are primarily hosted in the United States and may also be hosted in locations outside of the jurisdiction in which you live. If you use the Services from regions of the world with laws governing data processing, you accept that you are transferring your data to the United States and other hosting jurisdictions for storage, access, and processing. By using the Services, you agree to such transfer, storage, and processing.

We will post any adjustments to the Privacy Policy on this page. If we make material changes to the Privacy Policy, we will provide you notice in accordance with applicable law.
