I’ve been running a little bit of Daggerheart and now I’m playing in a campaign (yay!). I very much enjoyed the rulebook which is full of little modular parts that seem to say “Make More of Me!!”. Who am I to refuse their call?

I decided to make a few environments, since it feels like there’s really not enough of them in the core book. Environments are a bit like locations and a bit like stat blocks for monsters. They generally have passive features (like a muddy bog would suck you down), but also typical monsters and extra scary things they can do if the GM spends Fear. I immediately had a bunch of ideas!

I started with this environment where a giant’s petrified heart had corrupted a whole lake. (My inspirations often come from fairy tales, in this case a half-recalled one where a giant takes out his heart and puts it in an egg on an island. As you do.) And then I decided that I would make my environment highly designed, like a magazine page, because it was fun and cool to look at.

I wrote the environment originally in Obsidian, so I also have it available in markdown. Then I can also put it in a double-column card format and print it to go in my ever-growing file of A6 cards.

Anyway, things should not only stay on my computer, so here you go!

I went kind of crazy with the formats. Comment as to which one you like! Or is there another one you think would be useful?

• Cursed Lake (Designed) – a full color PDF. It’s set up as A4 but the print is large, and could probably be printed at A5 and still be legible.
• Cursed Lake (Designed, B&W) – PDF but black and white for ink saving
• Cursed Lake landscape card – PDF, I print mine at A6 on my Epson inktank printer and have a file (I’m a paper-based DM usually and I like having cards. A6 is a 4×6″ card)
• Cursed Lake statblock style (I used dh-brewing.com)
• Cursed Lake markdown (.md) file (open in a text editor or in Obsidian or other markdown reader) – for editing or incorporating to your vault etc
• Cursed Lake json – import in dh-brewing and make changes

I zipped them all up so you can download and use whichever you like. BUT you have to pay me by commenting if you have any feedback for me. I have a few more of these that I’ll be posting and I’d like to know what you think.
