veldusi Indeed, a promising debut. Very nice blend of different styles. I would love to hear more, and especially when Gaiko would stray even more from the path that most of current electronic artists seem to follow (minimalistic, soundscaping-heavy and seemingly unfamiliar with earrnest melodic composing). I trust someone like Gaiko to know how to pull this genre out if its melody-less state and pour some quality of life back into the human-machine ;) Go for it, Gaiko. Favorite track: Cocoon.

Surveillance I could've picked any track for the favorite, it's all so good. Can't wait to hear more from Gaiko. Favorite track: Setagaya.

ravelogic One of the most wildly unique, inspired, and intelligent albums I've heard in quite some time. Truly, a breath of fresh air at a time when the electronic music scene has collectively lost its taste. Favorite track: Martyr.

about

Straight from the bustling scene of Brussels comes Nous'klaer Audio's latest signing: an effervescent debut album by the young Belgian-Japanese producer, live-performer, pianist and DJ Gaiko.

Gaiko (real name Kaito) bursts onto the scene with a nine-track full-length album that highlights the rich and diverse output of this emerging talent. His first offering spans left-field electronics, IDM and DnB, blending intricate drum-programming with lush synths and contemporary, contrasting piano pieces. The long player has been shaped into a push-and-pull dynamic of tempo and mood, a flow of quests that gradually grow into their entirety. From atmospheric textures to tight, propulsive beats, Gaiko builds layers that ripple into each subsequent track.

This contrasting yet complementary energy flows from the tender "Millennium" into the unassuming highs of "Setagaya," while the floating electronica of IDM-leaning tracks "Subdued" and "Ever's Lullaby" build up to standout tracks "Martyr" and "Crush." Gaiko's self-titled debut balances euphoria with introspection through an unusually sophisticated playfulness, a rare quality that makes this vivid young artist all the more promising.
