An amicable and well-intentioned witch from an alternate universe. Signed away the distribution rights to his tragedy to Lilium in order to get here.
from an AU comic not canon to any of the games. the fans asked "if brickzo had gotten to name senbei, what would he be called?" and the answer was, a witch named mason.
mason is what senbei would look like had he not been born a rabbit. it would change his life so much. it changes his entire personality. we had to make mason real. because i mean, it's just so fucking FUNNY... LOOK AT THIS MAN!!! HE TURNS OUT SO DIFFERENT, HE'S ACTUALLY HAPPY... and yet his existence only makes senbei more miserable... mason is a joke i'm taking too seriously because the potential for comedy is too much. read mason au comic. DO YOU TRUST ME? PLEASE TRUST ME
first designed on 4/11, but the concept for him came the day before... what was life like before mason au...? i don't remember anymore...
personality
he wants to help. he wants to help you so bad, he thinks he's doing good, but actually he can only ever uphold existing power structures. this is the tragedy of being mason. he will smile at you and break your heart and not even realize he's doing that. i love him. LISTEN TO ME okay he's the opposite of senbei but not just for the sake of it, legitimately because if senbei had been born a witch he wouldn't have all the hangups he does about rabbits and predators and not having power. mason can do magic, he's not as good as his dad but he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder about it. he is the version of senbei that can accept all the love and privilege he was given from a young age and be a well-adjusted person with it instead of whatever the fuck senbei is. isn't it beautiful? mason is my favorite thing (writing this right after i finished drawing his comic)

FAMILY
Brickzo (Dad)- mason takes after him in both magic and personality. he admires and respects his dad greatly.
Irona (Mom)- a human with a personality opposite to nori's. she loves travel and is always off somewhere, brickzo doesn't always go with her because of his job but they have taken family vacations together before. she's left in mason's original universe, i think he misses her but he's also used to her being gone so he's used to it. wait i think she gave him attachment issues, why is mason AU so good, it's the opposite of senbei's problem where HIS mom is a recluse, oh my godddd
Senbei (half brother)- wants to know more about him and develop a positive bond as his brother, but senbei doesn't want anything to do with him. their ship name is "brickcest" (i don't condone this, i'm JUST SAYING)
FRIENDLY
Timber- huge crush on him. he's down bad, you guys. they were sort-of dating in mason's original universe, and he is still adjusting to being just friends where he is now. he's fixated on timber in a positive way (unlike senbei) but his love is unrequited so i don't know if i should call it positive... sorry mason... btw their ship name is "sonber".
Mochi- helped her with her garden, as opposed to what senbei did, which was not that
Treat- met through mochi, he tries to learn more about wolves through her. only sees her as representative of a minority group and not a genuine friend (though if you pointed that out to him he would say that's horrible and definitely not true)
Slate- lilium wrote slate's story at mason's request (mason didn't know it was gonna be LIKE THAT!!!) so mason both feels guilty for his suffering AND really wants to save him. slate AU part 2 isn't out yet but there will be an in-movie mason for slate to have a real dynamic with, which, when that happens i will update this description...
NEUTRAL
Twigs- extremely jealous of them for getting to be timber's partner, BUT, also wants to respect their bond and not overstep any boundaries. despite this, he is constantly pushing boundaries (in polite ways) because he just really wants to be with timber. he doesn't know how annoying he is. twigs is an obstacle he has to be nice to in order to see timber at all (i'm crying)
Manjuu- did not appear in the comic but mason would try to get her to reconcile with mochi and she would find him to be just unbearable. she is nothing but a project to be solved to him.
trivia

- senbei's body is more muscular than his because he doesn't work out (his magic does all the heavy lifting)
- if timber and mason had a kid he would be named furnace (THIS WON'T HAPPEN)
