Accessibility and Data Visualization
Frank Elavsky, Carnegie Mellon UniversityThis talk provides a short introduction to accessibility and an overview of the history of practicing visualization and cartography for and with people with disabilities. I will share helpful frameworks for thinking about disability and access, in addition to my own experiences making visualizations more accessible. No prerequisite knowledge in coding or accessibility is required. This talk is intended to give everyone a sense of shared understanding of what accessibility is and how to practically design for it.
