Merget Cookie Policy
Effective date: June 5, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Merget, Inc. ("Merget," "we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at merget.ai and its subdomains (the "Website"). It forms part of, and should be read together with, the Merget Privacy Statement and the Merget Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in those documents. If there is any conflict between this Policy and the Privacy Statement regarding personal-data processing, the Privacy Statement controls.
The Services (including Merget accounts and the desktop application) are offered only to users located in the United States. The Website may be accessible from other countries, but we do not target, market, or direct the Services to residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland; if you visit from one of those regions, non-essential cookies are off until you opt in, as described below.
What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device, which can be read when your browser later connects to a server in the same domain. "First-party" cookies are set by us; "third-party" cookies are set by other companies whose services we use. We also use similar technologies, including browser local storage (used, for example, to remember your cookie choices and our first-party visitor identifier), tracking pixels/tags (small snippets of code that report activity to a provider), and server-side reporting (our servers transmitting event data, such as a conversion, directly to a provider). This Policy covers all of these.
The categories we use
1. Essential (always active)
These are necessary for the Website and Services to function and are not subject to opt-out.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in / session cookies | Merget | Keep you signed in and maintain your session | Session, or until sign-out |
| Cookie-consent preference | Merget (browser local storage) | Remember the cookie choices you made in the banner / Cookie Settings | Persistent until cleared or changed |
__cf_bm and related Cloudflare cookies | Cloudflare, Inc. | Security, bot detection, and traffic management for the Website | Up to ~30 minutes |
| Desktop app authentication token | Merget (stored locally by the desktop application, not a browser cookie) | Authenticate the desktop application | Until sign-out |
2. First-party analytics (Merget only)
We run our own, in-house analytics on the Website, processed on our own infrastructure and not shared with third-party analytics providers.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visitor identifier | Merget (browser local storage) | A persistent, randomly generated identifier that lets us recognize the same browser across visits | Persistent until cleared |
| Session identifier | Merget | Distinguishes one visit from the next | Per visit |
These identifiers are used with the page, in-page section, referrer, campaign-parameter (UTM), user-agent, truncated-IP, approximate-location, timestamp, waitlist-funnel, and booking-link-click data described under "Website and Waitlist Analytics" in the Privacy Statement. As explained there, before you submit the waitlist form we record which fields you interact with and whether they contain a value — not the text you type.
3. Third-party advertising and analytics (subject to your choices)
Subject to your consent or opt-out choices, the Website uses the following third-party services for campaign measurement, conversion attribution, and audience measurement. These providers receive identifiers and internet-activity information and may use it under their own privacy policies, including across other sites.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google LLC (Google Analytics) | Distinguishes visitors for analytics | ~2 years |
_ga_<container-id> | Google LLC (Google Analytics) | Maintains session state for analytics | ~2 years |
_rdt_uuid | Reddit, Inc. (Reddit Pixel) | Identifies visitors for Reddit ad measurement and attribution | ~3 months |
LinkedIn Insight Tag cookies (e.g., bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory, li_sugr) | LinkedIn Corporation | Identifies visitors for LinkedIn ad measurement and attribution | ~1 day to ~1 year, depending on the cookie |
Server-side reporting in this category. When these services are active, our servers may also transmit event data directly to the providers: the Reddit Conversions API (which can include a conversion event such as a waitlist signup together with a hashed (SHA-256) version of your email address, your IP address, your user-agent string, and Reddit's click identifier) and the Google Analytics Measurement Protocol. Your opt-out (below) stops this server-side reporting along with the cookies and pixels, from that point forward.
Under California law, this third-party advertising/analytics activity constitutes "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. See "Your choices" below and the "Advertising and Analytics Partners" and "Your Advertising Opt-Out Choices" sections of the Privacy Statement.
The consent banner and region-aware behavior
When you visit the Website, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies.
- Visitors from the EEA, the UK, and certain other regions: non-essential cookies and trackers are off until you opt in.
- Other visitors, including in the United States: the banner provides a genuine choice, and you can decline non-essential cookies or later withdraw consent.
Your choices
- Cookie Settings / Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time using the "Cookie Settings" / "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the Website footer. Withdrawing consent stops the third-party advertising/analytics cookies, pixels, and server-side conversion reporting from that point forward.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC). If we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as a valid opt-out of the sale/"sharing" of personal information for that browser and suppress the third-party advertising/analytics trackers and conversion reporting accordingly.
- Browser controls. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and clear local storage to remove the first-party identifiers and your stored consent preference. Blocking essential cookies may prevent the Website or Services from working properly.
- Email. You can also submit an opt-out request to [email protected].
Your cookie choices are separate from the waitlist. Declining or withdrawing cookie consent, or sending a GPC signal, opts you out of the third-party trackers and conversion reporting only. It does not stop (a) essential cookies, (b) our first-party, in-house website and waitlist-funnel analytics described above, or (c) our collection of the information you choose to submit in the waitlist form. If you do not want us to collect waitlist information, do not submit the form.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time — for example, if the cookies or providers we use change. The cookies in use and their durations are set by us and our providers and may vary; we will keep this Policy reasonably up to date, and material changes will be notified as described in the Privacy Statement. Your continued use of the Website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
