At the present, nothing is purchased on this site. There is no shopping cart, no checkout, no card form, no extra charges for paper bags, etc. As such, if you email me about an artwork or object, we will work out the details, and I'll send an invoice.
How buying works
Every object in the Shop has an Inquire button. It opens an email addressed to me with the object already in the subject line.
From there:
- I confirm it's still available and what shipping to you costs.
- I send an invoice you can pay by card.
- It ships once payment clears, usually within a few days.
Nothing is held from being sold elsewhere until an invoice is paid. Most of what's here is one of one, so if two people ask about the same object, the first paid invoice takes it and I'll tell you quickly if you're second.
Shipping
Shipping within the continental US is included on my own work unless the listing says otherwise. Everywhere else, like Alaska, Hawaii, and international, I quote shipping before you commit, because it varies greatly with size and your destination address.
International orders may collect customs duties or import taxes on arrival. Those are yours, and I can't estimate them in advance.
Everything is packed carefully and ships insured.
Returns and damage
If it arrives damaged, or it isn't what the listing described, tell me within 14 days and send a photo. I'll refund or replace it at my cost, return shipping included.
If you changed your mind, get in touch. On a stock object I'll take it back within 14 days in original condition and refund the object, though not the shipping. However, on commissions and made-to-order work I can’t reasonably do that, as it exists only because you asked for it.
Either way, write to me first. I'd much rather sort it out than have a box arrive unannounced and uncared for if I’m away for a few days.
Privacy
This site doesn't track you at all.
There are no analytics, no cookies, no tracking pixels, no ad scripts, no third-party embeds watching you read, or any of that. I actually don't know who you are while you’re visiting my site, or what you looked at. It’s possible that my shared web host keeps ordinary server logs, typical for every web server that has been around, even those since 1993 when the internet was born. But I don’t mine them.
Although, there are two ways that you could give me personal information of your own consent.
Email. When you inquire about an object, or just write to say hello, I would have your email address and whatever you put in the message. Of course I would use that to answer you and to handle the sale. I don't sell it, rent it, or sign you up for anything.
Studio Letters. The signup form posts your email address straight to Buttondown, the service that sends the letters, so your address goes to them rather than through my server. They store it for us (you and I) and then I write to you using it, occasionally. But thankfully every letter carries an unsubscribe link that works easily enough to stop the electronic mail chaos if it’s no longer wanted.
If you ask me what information I have on you, or if you ask me to delete it, I'll do it. And an email requesting this will work just fine.
Getting in touch
Email is the front door: luke@lukedorny.com
This is a one-person studio, so replies take hours, occasionally a day. If something has gone wrong with an order, say so in the subject line and I'll jump the queue. I wouldn’t be lying, though, if I said let’s have a little patience since email ends up in junk mail boxes, sometimes on the first send, or the second. I check my junk mail regularly, but isn’t that sad? Yes. Yes, it is.
At the end now! So, if a real checkout system ever appears here, I’ll alter the Policies page. Until then, this is all of it.
Thank you for your understanding,
Luke
