2.12.2026 Update

Good Morning everyone, I know it's been forever and a day since I touched LUA and there's a reason for that. Last year I started on a story set in the LUA universe based on a dream I had called Academy. This was a pre-LUA story that I decided had enough content to be considered cannon. The goal was to finnish Academy by Dec 31st so that LUA could pick up where it left off after New Years... only it never happened due to a mental break from being furloughed from my job for September and October(and I'm still playing catch up albeit 50mg of Zoloft). To help finnish Academy sooner I created a full color Gemini-assisted copy for my eyes only as there's still alot of ground to cover before ending which will lead into the begining of LUA(Logan being a Park Ranger in Bryce Canyon). When LUA does pick up again, the crew will go on a hunt for the KFC statues(there's over 1,000 of em spread out). One of the points I wanted to make about LUA was showing off parts of Japan and that will help. I don't have an eta unfortunatly as finnishing Academy is the priority(I did think about working on both comics at once but dismissed it as work tires me out enough as it is).

Thanks for everyone sticking with me this far, I appreciate it - LUA has always been a labor of love. The story of a once-bitten human turned into a Fox and having adventures in Japan with a cast of characters, born from fallout of my divorce. Even now such a vehicle hasn't been done before and LUA's been at it the longest. It has suffered the sitcom effect however, where the story keeps going and going while most have a set time they want to share a webcomic(a main idea or goal like Gene Catlow which ended with Gene saving his town or Sabrina Online where Eric split the comic between ages), I'm ok with that.

I'm starting to ramble so I'll end this here,
Matt

5.14.2025 Update

For those who've followed allong and ignored the dates, congratulations! and thank you ^_^
Moving on... drawing pages has been a bit slow due to work and my mental health at times. I'm on Buspirone now for that, which only leaves the job, which runs me ragged at times depending on where folks are and where their going(I'm a NEMT Medical Transportation driver). In this update I'm going to share a bit of what's going on and where it's headed. I've always did this comic from the seat-of-my-pants conjuring up the ideas in my head and putting out in comic form. This hasn't changed any. It goes to my spastic personality, it's ok lol. That said, where we are right now in the comic is a VR session of Stardew Valley(which doesn't exist but wish it did) where it's just been reveiled that the mayor of town is Mobius and Moon's head assistant Riley Tanaka and the townsfolk are the members of Mobius and Moon's team. If you remember Mobius memtioned that the headsets were being tested by R&D but had no idea what they were up to and could contain anything. What was discovered was an AI program of Pierre Chang from LOST greeting everyone and putting them into Stardew Valley with the exception of a conversation with Logan, before dropping him also into Stardew Valley(which is where the story picks up).

It's to be believed that everyone except Mobius and Moon and probably a skeleton crew have been in this enviroment for quite sometime. Where we are at is the day of the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies(28th day of Summer). After this event Logan and crew will wake up to find an exhausted Mobius and Moon asleep nearby(the date will me May 11,2023 for those watching the dates dispite me saying to ignore them). The entire point was to poke at the Covid Pandemic(I was living in Kingman Arizona without internet during the early to later stages of Covid when I thought this sequence up), labeling it the Furry Disease where folks would turn into a random animal and those left untreated would remain that animal in a forcefull nature(though anthro), while being limited to just Japan.

I haven't thought any further ahead then that but I'm sure I'll refrence the fact that Covid keeps mutating and Michael might wake up in a physical form(thus possibly adding a newish main character). I do also want to eventually show sequences where everyone goes on hikes in and around Japan, showing off the sights but not sure if that'll happen as getting ouf this Furry Disease sequence is the priority right now.

Not sure if anyone reads these but there it is,
Matt

4.14.2025

Moved the filler page out of the way and will return it when the pages catch up. 191 forward are new pages even though they have 2021 on them.
Need to follow my logic here on this one... since the comic was first started way back in 2019 and I'm building onto the end of what was the original
run, the dates need to reflect like i'd never stopped working on this version of the comic. So right now we're in VR and Stardew Valley even though
I'd discovered Stardew Valley in 2016 when it was in beta when I was still married, and VR in 2020 when I was with Chyanne/Tessa... which means
I have just over 4 years of webcomic to catch up on to bring it current. I'm not in a rush.

Stay Frosty,
Matt

4.10.2025 Update

I'm about to make a filler page specific for it, but I've gone ahead and scrubbed both Ko-Fi and Patreon, opting instead for Tip Top Jar, dispite my hating of PayPal. I'd really love a way to set up something for Venmo since that's what me and my sister and one friend uses to move moeny back and forth but there isn't anything really for PC users. Either way this will set up tipping instead of subscribing or donating and bypasses the IRS' new stipulations. This will also let me get back to making and releasing pages instead of waiting for a whole episode to be done first.

Ciao,
Matt

4.8.2025 Update

I've noticed LUA spiking in activity the past week dispite not putting anything up in awhile. Work has kept me busy during the week and my folks want all my attention on the weekends - which usually ends up in me fending them off with a stick. Two weeks ago I was driving through Leatherwood Ford and hit a deer with the work van, so they have me in other parts of the state now which I hate but have noo room to complain about(it'll burn me out eventually). I also changed to a mode where I'd complete an episode to put onto patreon and then once that was done, release the pages here individually. That's my stab on trying to make my comic work for me because I'd love to sit here and work on it all the time but that doesn't pay the rent(it's why the KoFi link was up before Patreon; not that anyone interacts with either one). I dunno, starting to loose confidence in my ability to market myself which is impacting wanting to draw.

Stay Frosty,
Matt

Updates

Hey everyone who pays attention... I'll be updating the layout of the comic here in the next few days. For now I changed the banner back to the old one(that one seemed to bring out my sarcasm more). Even though post dates say 2021, those are very much new comic posts(in my head I have 4 years of comic content to catch up on to make them 'current'. As soon as it's approved, I'll also be bringing Patreon back, specifically for LUA. Each person that subs will get LUA in episodic format plus commentary and any other bonus content I have. Should be fun.

The real gist is I'm a NEMT medical driver irl and the company I work for may be closing down soon(there aren't any other ones here), so if I can show proof that I can make it on my own through donations/subscriptions, I can keep that going. I'm very fortunate that my landlady fights for us against the housing authority to keep us all here. My irl monthly costs are right around $1600 between rent, utilities, insurance, phone bill, etc.. I didn't intend to make that into a sob story because that's not what it is. The point is, if I can keep that ammount per month going, it'll be business as usual and can work on this comic full time.

Thanks everyone,
Matt

10/27/2024 Update!

Man has it been a hot minute since adding anything to ComicFury! Yes the comic is back in development. I'm going back through take 2 of the comic and fixing things so there's an actual story here, which means when everything's uploaded, I'll keep that story going as the VR project was where I stopped working on this version for some reason(this also means new pages will eventually be up on Mondays and Fridays). There's other stories I'd like to add to this now. As of this post I left the comic off at August 17, 2020. This would've been still in the middle of Covid which is where the idea for the VR project came from(with ref to Ready Player One). Take 2 is also the story I developed the most with a current page count of 116. No other versions I worked on even made it to 50 pages so that's something.

Anyhow, let's see where this goes shall we?

1.10.2021 Update

I don't use this enough(sometimes even forget it's here :D) but here we go. Since starting LUA hosting has been up and down with going from here to LINE/Webtoons to Instagram then back to here. It seems my comic wants to remain here so that's what's going to happen with that. The storyline has once again changed and I'm happy with it, so running with it. It was also suggested to start shading the panels and the results really are night and day. At one time I made the comment that I would never buy into KoFi or Patreon or any of those sites and continue with that, so i'd like to introduce BuyMeaCoffee. This site gives the option to donate with Paypal or with Stripe only. I'm also still doing dollar spots that puts your OC in my comic but will only announce those on instagram(@luacomicofficial).

That's it for now, as always thanks for reading and subscribing to LUA!
-Logan
