Sicily
I only take photos occasionally, even though it’s one of my great passions. Vacations are, of course, the perfect opportunity for this, although I have to make some compromises here too, because no woman who isn’t keen on photography will tolerate waiting for hours for the right moment in the long run. I’ve reached a tacit agreement with my better half that I’ll always lag a little behind on our trips. She turns round every now and then to see where I am.
After returning from vacation, I edit the photos in Lightroom, and depending on how much time I’ve got, this process can sometimes take a little longer. First, I flag the good ones, edit them indidually and then assign star ratings. 5 stars means the image ends up in my blog’s photo pool, to be used as a header image someday, as they have the most beautiful colours and shapes. Then, I award 4 stars to those I want to publish on other platforms via my blog (like Vernissage et al), and for which a separate photo page is therefore also created when the blog is built. Last but not least, I use the 3-star photos as assets in a related post.
I’ve just finished processing the about 1,300 photos from our holiday in Sicily in May, and this time 315 of them managed to score at least 3 stars. It wouldn’t make sense to cover them all in a single post, so I’m dividing them into seven topic-based posts and publishing them in stages, starting today with the 5-star photos.
