14/my_place_and_yours

a random internet stranger recently told me (in the loosest sense of the word, being neither directly aimed at me nor with me in mind) that: “maybe the one thing that we should care the most about it putting stuff out there… [because] if we don’t put stuff out there, why have a website in the first place?”
i spend an agonizingly long time attempting to sculpt each post into a form that i feel is “acceptable”, or “palatable” enough to serve to my extensive reader base of… 2-3 people. the incredulity of this statement, and corresponding thought, becomes immediately apparant upon writing it out in full. not only is it absolutely rediculous, but it reveals the magnitude of the lie i’ve been telling both myself and my “dear readers”.
it is not for you that i am writing. it is, underneath it all, writing for myself. and that is what authentic writing should be, in my eyes. other people can, should and will feature, but my true aim is to uncover myself, piecing together the fragments of thoughts and feelings that ebb and flow through me over time. to explore the rocks and crevasses that are revealed upon the receding of the tide, the parts that hold strong as the waves crash back against them, and the parts that are swept away. because then, only then, i will be able to love others in a way that is truly, unabashedly and authentically me.
but the very chance to have someone else to share these shards of myself with is one that i will be eternally grateful for, no matter how intimately or distantly i know you.
i hope i, too, can help you in some way (big or small) on your own journey to piece together the bits of this world that make your heart smile.
i hope i can bring colour to eyes that see a monochrome world.
