Changelog
A change log is a log of changes. See, every day is a learning day! This page is dedicated to documenting (in a very brief and high level way) any changes I make to the site, whether they're minor css changes or bigger stuff like new content or features. I really enjoy a changelog (yes, I'm like that) and love to read through them!

- It's Blaugust 2026 and I'm taking part! Wonder how long this'll last?
- It'll last at least two posts because I've just finished up and post I've had in drafts for a while about what I'd do if I could retire. It's meandering and unstructured and not really proof read despite how long it's been sitting here nearly finished. Such is life! Onwards!
- Over the last few days I've written loads of... I guess you could call it content... for the site. But most people won't see it. Some of you curious folk will find it...
- I've added an as-yet unstyled table to the /vulns page which lists out a VERY BRIEF description of every security issue reported to me about this site. All but one are from the old WordPress days pre new site!
- Fixed a typo on the homepage intro blurb. You can now click through to the /colophon as intended! Thanks for alerting me to this Frans!!!
- Posted my experience coming across a way to take over peoples Backblaze accounts... if only they'd follow some niche Backblaze documentation, anyway!
- Posted about making dandelion honey! Yum.
- We got two cats in March and I've owed cat tax since then, which I have now paid in the form of a new post! Meow!
- Commented out the
hyphens: auto;from the CSS. I didn't like how it was breaking words up. It's a remnant from when I used tojustifythe text on the site at every opportunity! - I've fixed one of the RSS feed issues I am aware of - the full contents were not output in a standards-compliant way! There are a few other issues, which will be sorted soon!
- Quietly added a /guestbook for people to sign if they wish! It's hosted by webweav.ing if you want one for your site!
- Added a /colophon page
- Bumped cookie lifetime (used to save your theme choice) from 30 days to 180 days (about 6 months)
- The menu is looking a bit full, so I've condensed it a little. I really should redesign it at some point...
- I used Dan's 88x31 button maker and made an 88x31 button for this site! It's a really cool tool, especially for people like me who just can't with the graphical stuff. Thanks, Dan! Check it out in all it's flamey glory:
- The domain that hosts the font files I use seems to be down or suffering from some kind of issue, so I've switched from the fonts.upset.dev endpoint to fonts.bunny.net - I love that there are two drop in replacements for Google fonts available
- I've added the indieweb.org page dedicated to /blank pages to my page dedicated to /blank pages

- I've found motivation in a time of turmoil. 107 files updated, mostly minor, some major. Woo! Hopefully nothing is broken x.x
- Updated the /about page, the /hello page and homepage a little. In fact, I've touched up almost every one of the /slashpages a little!
- Finally got around to updating the /now page, archiving the previous entry
- The void has spoken to me. It has granted me a moments peace, as it felt like it needed some... refinement. This has been completed. The void now hungers once more.
- Where before there were RSS feeds containing a summary of the content of the site, now there are also full feeds, which contain the entire content of a post/scrap/everything, depending on what you subscribe to of course!
- I've refined some of the css to make things both a little more readable as well as nicer on the eyes, regardless of theme choice - let me know if you don't like it
- In fact, I wonder if anyone even reads these changelogs? I love a changelog on a personal site, I keep thinking about making a big list of any that I come across... a changeloglog, if you will. So, if you do actually read this and enjoy changelogs in general, send me a little message and let me know!

- Scraps! Aahhh! Savior of the universe! I saw the music video for this song for the first time recently and it turns out I've actually seen the movie. No idea when, but it blew my mind that I was recognising scenes without any knowledge of what was going on or why. Oh, and Scraps #11 has been posted!

- I have a new phone and whoops I broke it. fml.
- I've updated my contact page with a clickable (easily parsable, eek) email address (spam-be-damned #yolo etc) AND GET THIS a signal username. Which is kinda neat! More ways to send me stuff. And yes for those of you in the back asking, I may indeed soon regret my choice.

- New Theme Switcher post posted
- I've updated the theme switcher. You can now select the theme on a drop down on every page if you look in the top right. It updates live, zero javascript (thanks,
:hasCSS selector!), and it'll retain your location on the site to boot. You can still see and select the themes on the /themes page. This required a decent re-organisation of the CSS file so if you notice anything funky, let me know tysm - Wrote a post about HTML, emoji and a journey of me exploring how to potentially avoid LLMs from drinking down your content on your site

- Around two weeks have passed now since I migrated to a new server host - a VPS provided by Hetzner. Pretty good experience so far, especially compared to the shared web hosting i was using before. Gandi used to be cheap, but it ain't so anymore. Thanks, VC buyout. Sigh. Post coming soon...

- Posted about a customer data leak I noticed in Atera
- I'm gonna switch to dashes (
-) in post URLs instead of underscores (_) primarily for readability - sometimes the underscores aren't visible when the url is underlined. They're also awkward to type, relative to the dash, on most keyboard layouts that I have seen. Anyway, I now support this, where before I did not. So yay! - Posted a small chicken update!

- I've slightly modified the list of posts - the title comes before the date and is more prominent. I've also styled the post filter and added a toggle for a post summary, which is hidden by default
- I joined the Verdantville webring, a webring for green websites, of which this is by default! You can see the webring nav at the very bottom of each page, for now, until I come up with a better way to display it!
- Posted a picture of some blossom trees in our garden
- Fixed bug with CSS-based post filter I added to the homepage on 2025-02-26 which resulted in missing posts. Yes a bug. I didn't forget about an entire category. Nope. No way. Stop looking at me.

- I've added a CSS-only post list filter to the list of posts on the homepage - this is a bit of an experiment. I don't know if I'll keep it. I do need to re-organise the post categories though. Oh, btw, filter preferences (ie. checkbox state, whether you've unchecked it or not) aren't retained across page loads because I don't use JavaScript here. If you know a way to do this please let me know!

- Added a /slashes slashpage which simply lists all the slashpages I have on this site
- Added a /blank page, inspired by the page on Blake Watsons site, and wrote a post as to why. (Getting the /blank page working took a bigger rewrite than I expected!)
- I investigated the state of SPF and DMARC at primary school email domains in the UK. SPF wasn't too bad but DMARC was pretty shoddy!
- I've changed the footer a little, adding some links and some useless random text :D
- I've changed the default theme to something green (with light/dark preferences obeyed) and added it to the theme selection page, which actually is just a way to delete the theme preference cookie if you have one set.
- This required some re-writing of the CSS file that and I've used it as an opportunity to touch some stuff up a little. Nothing major. If you notice anything is broken, let me know, yeah?
- I wrote up how I organise tasks, a project... and then a method I use to organise so many projects your brain melts a bit just thinking about it all
- I moved my contact info out of the about page and have given it its own dedicated slashpage: /hello inspired by Alastair. /contact also goes there, of course

- I checked the carbon rating of this site and it turned out pretty okay actually!
- One side effect of the work I did yesterday to add dynamic meta tags means I can now use data about a post whilst not looking at a post. To start with, I've added a description about the contents of the post to the list of posts on the homepage. Just hover your mouse over them to get a little more info!
I'll do the same for the RSS feed soon (tm)that's done. I also output the description in a <p> in the list, but I've hidden that in the CSS for now. But it's there to use in a future theme! - I've quickly also added the post category (the
article:sectionin metatag parlance) to the CSS class of each entry on the post list. For future styling purposes! - RSS feed has been updated to include the description of each post, as well as the categor(y|ies) which reflect(s) the content
- I've added a /story /slashpage because why the devil not?? I mean, sure it's just another way to hit /about but that's not important! (I also added /contact but that also just goes to the /about page.)
