Flamedfury.com complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 when dealing with personal information and this policy document explains how I collect and handle any personal information you provide to me.

What personal information is collected?
You may choose to share personal information with me when you:

• send me an e-mail
• sign my guestbook

Do not send me sensitive personal information or include it in emails or guestbook comments.

Feedback you provide

Feedback is important and is used to evaluate and improve this website.

If you provide feedback by e-mail, that feedback is sent directly to me, fLaMEd. I do not share these messages with anyone.

If you submit a guestbook entry, it will be published publicly for anyone who views the guestbook to read.

What background data is collected?
There are no ads, no cookies, and nothing that follows you around the web.

I do use Neat Stats, a privacy-first analytics tool. It tells me which pages people are reading and which sites are linking to me. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t track you across other websites, and doesn’t build a profile of you.

What about things loaded from other websites?
Some pages pull in media that lives somewhere else. When you load one of those pages your browser talks to that service directly, which means it can see your IP address. I have no control over what those services do with that.

• site icons on the links and blogroll pages come from an IndieWeb avatar service
• posts with a video load a small player from a code CDN, and nothing from YouTube itself until you press play
• a couple of old World of Warcraft posts load tooltips from Wowhead
• the webring widget on the homepage comes from Neocities
• the guestbook is powered by webweav.ing

Everything else, every page, image, font and stylesheet, is served from my own server.

How do I use the data you provide?
I read it. Email stays between the two of us. Guestbook entries are public, because that’s the point of a guestbook. The stats are for my own curiosity about what people are reading, nothing more.

How secure is your data?
I don’t store personal information beyond whatever you choose to send me, so there isn’t a database of you to leak.

How secure is this website?
This website transmits itself using HTTPS, encrypting all data between the browser and the server. Your network provider can still see that you are downloading assets from this site, but not its content. This also protects you from third parties intercepting data, for example, while browsing on public WiFi, or from network providers injecting advertisements on this site. All relevant response HTTP headers are set for your protection and the Content Security Policy is adjusted to this websites requirements.

Changes to the policy
If I change the content of this policy, those changes will be effective at the time I post them here.
