A special event called the Siege of Zarzakh was announced in EVE. I don’t recall ever hearing about the Zarzakh system before.

It is its own unique connection system, with a group called the Deathless Circle who reside in an abandoned Jovian Station, or something like that. I do vaguely recall that group’s name being mentioned before.

The Drifters are now attacking it, and players can help the Deathless Circle (or I presume hinder) if they wish. It seems rather deadly – and once again specifically directed at group play, not solo.
I miss not knowing all this sort of stuff about EVE. I used to read through all the dev blogs, social media posts and release notes – then test and play around with anything that suited my style of play. Now there are new and changed ships and modules and rebalancing on rebalancing that I just have no idea about. I suspect half my ship fittings would now be embarrassingly bad.
It is a reminder of all the free time I once might have spent on EVE that I have given up, mostly to my family. I had thought I would get that time back once we got over this goal, or that hurdle, or the next transition. I thought it would lead to positive outcomes and be appreciated. Instead, mostly it led to me having to give up even more time.
I am 51 now, and not really where I was expecting to be at this point in my life. I have been recently trying to claw back a little of that time for myself.

I am on my third playthrough in Starfield. You get an upgraded starter ship and armour at each playthrough. It seems there are six levels of ship and 10 levels of the armour, so I have a ways to go to maximise those benefits. At the lower levels the equipment is nice, but easily bettered by gear you can pick up or buy.
I did the barest minimum on my last playthrough, but then hit a brick wall in one part of the final battle that I kept dying at. I had just taken gear I had found in the relatively few combat areas I had played through and had not modified anything. I could not kill the opponents quickly enough or tank enough of their damage. I watched some YouTube clips but, in the end, I found for myself that brute force was the answer. I pumped-up short-term boosts, ran through the gumbies, and overwhelmed the boss.
I am being a little more careful this play through.
