I'd like to request a barnstar for American football There's already barnstars for soccer, baseball, basketball, and hockey. Between college football, the NFL, the CFL, and the other minor leagues, there's a lot of articles and editors in this space. There are a lot of great contributors that I think deserve a barnstar for their contributions and I'd like the opportunity to give it out. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:40, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Oh that's cool and makes more sense than it having gone uncreated this entire time, thanks @Judekkan. Is there any reason I can't just add it to WP:TOPBARN? Just curious why it's been excluded up until now when all the other major sports have an award in that section. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:44, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Hey man im josh I already added them to TOPBARN. I did see them a few years back and was going to add them but forgot, and Bozky doesn't edit the English Wikipedia. I'm not sure if the editor is even active anymore. Judekkan (talk) 18:53, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

Right now, barnstars feel way too bland. Most 2.0 stars are just the logo of whatever wikiproject is relevant to the star just slapped onto the center of the star, and probably some recoloration. That's boring. I feel like barnstars should be more creative. For an example of what I mean by this, look at the redirect barnstar. It used to be creative, having an image of a redirect on it. But now? It's the same as most other barnstars. I really feel like these should change. RteeeeKed💬📖19:09, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
Gonna add on another thing I thought of: maybe make the title of the barnstar in the template relevant too. So instead of just having "The Glass Barnstar", maybe something like "The Transparent Barnstar of Glass"? RteeeeKed💬📖21:01, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Awarded to an editor who helps reduce Wikipedia's systemic bias. (Overlaps a little with {{Goddess Barnstar}}, but that's only for women, not other forms of systemic bias.) Anyone want to design? {{u|Sdkb}}talk19:08, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi i tried to design a systemic bias barnstar for the male gender Here it is: (thats a first design i can improve it) Francyfabb (talk) 09:03, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
Hmm, I appreciate the effort, Francyfabb, but I'm not sure the intended symbolism really comes through. I'm looking for a Barnstar that can be used for more then just gender, as the goddess Barnstar already covers women. @Jerm: Any updates from your efforts? {{u|Sdkb}}talk09:40, 7 June 2022 (UTC)
Sdkb & FormalDude, sorry I left without notice, I'm back now under a new account. I have a barnstar prepped but no symbol that would represent "Systemic bias", any suggestions? Judekkan (talk) 20:22, 6 July 2022 (UTC) (Jerm)
Systemic bias is about discrimination, and this barnstar is about eliminating it. So, an equals sign would work here. RteeeeKed💬📖17:53, 11 July 2022 (UTC)
svg/png are the desirable formats, one or the other, it doesn’t matter which. If someone is going to remaster an old award, don’t worry about getting it svg if you can’t, an award doesn’t need to be svg. Judekkan (talk) 18:32, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I would like to request a barnstar for WikiProject Amateur radio. The project is kind of dead and the articles are in need of some serious love. So I thought it might be nice to try and organize an article clean up drive next month and see if I can spur some interest and I thought making a barnstar as an award would be a nice way to recognize peoples work. I tried finding for vector images of morse code keys but I couldn't find any that weren't copyrighted. I'm really open to anything and if there's anything I can do to be helpful please let me know. Can we get a Native American barnstar for people who work on these culturally important articles? There are literally several hundred (if not thousands of) articles regarding the subject. I am quite surprised that one doesn't exist here yet. Regards, GenQuest"scribble"21:55, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Badak Jawa It's a nice barnstar, but the topic for which this barnstar covers is minor. WP:TBARN cover topics that are more common throughout society, or have a WikiPriject dedicated to a topic, whether it's specific or common. Judekkan (talk) 14:49, 13 December 2022 (UTC)

I would like to request someone to create a new barnstar for outstanding user scripting. This is inspired by a wonderful new script that revolutionizes the ability to convert the numeric reference names generated by Visual Editor (like ":0") into meaningful names (like "Lastname-YYYY"). This is a game-changer for fixing such articles, and deserves a barnstar. I looked through the entire list of barnstars, and was very surprised that I couldn't find one aimed at someone who has designed an exceptionally useful new user script, or made major improvements to an existing one. Can someone help?
The tricky part, I guess (I'm not a graphic designer), is figuring out how to get the "scripting" idea into the design. I had a look at icons from this Google image search, I also tried this search at Commons, and the most common motif there, was this sort of scroll-paper idea, with the top and bottom rolled up a bit, like or ; or maybe a completely different approach, with something incorporating some lines of code, like a faded version of ? My understanding is, that user scripts are limited to being writen in javascript, for which a commonly understood abbreviation is "js", but I don't know if that's a hard rule that will never change, so I'm unsure about using 'js' in the design; maybe someone could weigh in on that point. Any ideas for a new scripting barnstar? Mathglot (talk) 21:01, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
Jerium, thank you for this. I'm uncertain about the "</>" image. Here's a link to the actual javascript code in that script, just as a sample of the look-and-feel of Javascript (which I'm not familiar with). It doesn't seem to use angle brackets much, or at all, and I wonder if that inset image is a good one to bring "scripting" to mind? I'll try and find a WikiProject or other page where scripters hang out, and ping a few people who might know. What do you think? Mathglot (talk) 23:59, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
Pinging regulars at WP:JAVASCRIPT: @Novem Linguae, Qwerfjkl, Fred Gandt, and Writ Keeper: for your opinions on what might be a good graphic element to add to this proposed barnstar. (The reason for the direct ping instead of leaving a feedback request at the page, is to hopefully keep from inviting User:N****g to his own surprise party . Also invited Graphics Lab folks.) What kind of graphic do you think would be a good one to add to a star or star-like image, to get across the idea of scripting? If scripting really is just javascript, maybe a "JS" inside one of those curly paper scroll thingies? Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 01:26, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Yeah the </> would be more appropriate to indicate markup. I've long considered if to be the most important word in high level coding (scripting), as almost everything we do will at some point require some flow control. Curly braces {} and semicolons ; are very codey. How about a good old foo; we code wranglers love us some foo. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs02:08, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
What about this, then?
if (isFoo) { return bar;
}
Might be illegible in the context of a sub-image overlaying a star, but maybe illegibility doesn't matter: it's kind of like Lorem ipsum, it's not there to really be read, just to look right (sort of). Or would a graphic (non-text) element be better? Mathglot (talk) 02:32, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Fred, not a bad idea; still hoping for more feedback from Graphics or Scripting folks to see what other ideas there might be. If we go with your curly idea, how big would you make the curlies? A barnstar is pretty large (see examples at Wikipedia:Barnstars), would you blow the curlies up to full height of the star, or something less? Also, what about the star itself as far as colors, designs, even shapes? Mathglot (talk) 00:57, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
Definitely wait for other feedback 👍 Something like: {
Fred, can you add some brief and very faded js code behind the star, maybe "if Foo { dot dot dot newline something something" to see how that might look? Doesn't matter if it's large enough to be easily legible, and should be faded enough that it doesn't interfere with the image, but just dark enough you can make it out if you stare at it. Mathglot (talk) 01:56, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
This is a ternary conditional statement meaning if(foo){returnbar;}else{returnbaz;}. Any good? You know these aren't images right? Probably easier with GIMP or PS (I was just trying to save the upload)
File:Scripting Barnstar-2.jpg I like that better, with that little screen in the corner. I tried adding some different text into it with "Paint" and came up with File:Scripting Barnstar-2.jpg, which you can view in situ at Template:The Scripting Barnstar/sandbox. There are several problems with it: the background shouldn't be black; the new text overlays the old text because I didn't know how to take out the characters that were already there; and, it converted it to jpg format, don't know why. But it gives the basic idea. What do you think? Maybe someone could try that idea without the background or text overlay, to see how it would look. Mathglot (talk) 23:17, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
I believe that was Arial bold. I'm pretty shaky with "Paint", I'll have to go back and try to verify that. Will get back to you. Mathglot (talk) 18:59, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
Demt1298 I like it. I wanted to make some adjustments though; make the umbrella bigger, tamper with the color, and add a shadow for a more 3D look and better visibility overall. I also made a version that better correlates with the userbox I created for the task force, but I haven't uploaded it. Jerium (talk) 16:54, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
Demt1298 Not an issue, but I think we should just stick with yours, it's still better. I also added my pink alternative version in the template. Jerium (talk) 18:56, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
@Jerium I saw that. I think it is a good idea to have the alternate. My original version is on my home computer. Let me see if I can make the adjustments you recommended and then I will see what you think! Demt1298 (talk) 18:57, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
Demt1298, I've updated the test file. If you don't see the changes, click on the barnstar file for comparison from the previous upload. I'm satisfied with this new upload. Jerium (talk) 22:50, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
Demt1298 What are your thoughts on the current test file? I would like to upload the test file on your version (overwrite), but I won't do it without consulting you first. Jerium (talk) 18:22, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
@JeriumI am working on one with the star I used but your concepts of bigger umbrella and shadows. I should complete it tonight and then we can compare. Demt1298 (talk) 18:32, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
I’ve seen it, and I think it’s really pathetic. I’m annoyed by it so much that I would propose a guideline to prevent such a thing, but such a proposal would be considered equally pathetic and pointless. There’s no harm in awarding yourself but the feeling is not truly satisfying. Jerium (talk) 09:28, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
Not a barnstar, but I once gave myself a Silver Wiki after I organized a contest on Wikimedia Commons but was one of only two or three participants. Not so much an award as it is a reminder why I've never organized a Commons contest since. - ZLEAT\C15:21, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

This Barnstar is for recognition of contributions to Wikipedia and for wise advice on using Wikipedia and for wise thoughts of a person Spectra321578 (talk) 22:07, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
So far, you have not provided a criteria that is note-worthy to establish the need for a new barnstar. As I perviously stated, other barnstars can already supplement to the criteria you have purposed. Jerium (talk) 15:04, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
/ This still doesn't mean that it can be added, if you want the criteria, here you go: The order is awarded for supplementing an article with information about YouTube and all social networks in the world.
So, can I make a new barnstar to here? Because this barnstar is only given to rollbackers, and for non-rollbackers, it is just an Anti-Vandalism barnstar. thetree284 (talk and edits) 16:23, 9 March 2025 (UTC)

Hey there, I have a new Barnstar called The Rollbacker's Barnstar in my sandbox for rollbackers and I wish to move it to the main template. So, let’s have a discussion which we will move the page or not.
Options:
Support (Moving The Rollbacker's Barnstar to the main template)
Neutral or Comment (Nothing)
Oppose (Keep The Rolbacker's Barnstar in my sandbox)
Oppose Rollback is just a tool to help fight vandalism. The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar is the more proper way to thank those who fend-off vandals. Jerium (talk) 18:26, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
Okay, but I saw a Rollbacker's Barnstar in Simple English Wikipedia (that’s I usually edit) and this should be added too. The description for "The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar" is: The barnstar may be awarded to show great edits to protect and revert attacks of vandalism on Wikipedia, while the "The Rollbacker's Barnstar" is: The barnstar is awarded to rollbackers who tirelessly rollback vandalism edits, or show a rollbacker that their work is appreciated. The messages are little bit different, so
You've already said it should be added. I'm sure you're proud of making the template, which is the real reason why you want to add it. Jerium (talk) 19:22, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Barntars are also assigned with a specified criteria whether it be for general editing, an editors behavior, or by an articles specified-topic (see WP:TBARN). Barnstars are not recklessly added by editors simply because they're proud of their own work, pointless meaning, or with duplicate criteria of an already-existing barnstar. Proposal: The Barnstar of Fast Editing

@Spectra321578, we are all here to build an encyclopedia, not to build user pages. Whilst it is okay to have a nice user page, and okay to tell somebody you like it, there is no obligation to give out barnstars to anyone, and I suggest you stop asking people to "beg for forgiveness" or to give you barnstars and focus instead, not on your userpage or awards, but on writing content (and honestly, the more you ask, the less likely you'll receive one). At AfC I decided to pass Erythrocyte-based drug delivery despite some AI writing concerns. These have somewhat been addressed over time but it is still a work in progress. One user WeirdNAnnoyed in particular has done a great job of tackling this massive problem. They have done so not only on this article but it is a useful example. I was about to award an original barnstar, but I think we should make a dedicated barnstar. This is a novel problem in editing that many editors will need to learn about. I think a dedicated barnstar will help to make example editors that we as a community can learn from. At Village Pump there has been many attempts, with limited success, to build consensus on AI policy. A dedicated barnstar may help to bring attention to cases where editors are doing a good job thereby creating moments to learn from a grow a future consensus. There is no action. As stated on the page, there is no consequence for an incorrect self-award. That is how Wikipedia works. Almost nothing on a userpage is disruptive editing (but you still need to be mindful that others will see your page and not just do whatever you want)
Nothing on a userpage is disruptive editing. is inaccurate advice, @OmegaAOL, it might be good for you to strike that so newer editors don't read it and think it's true. Schazjmd(talk)13:39, 1 November 2025 (UTC)
The rest of the message is fine. But there are instances where stuff on a userpage is considered disruptive. Nothing on a userpage is disruptive editing could be interpreted as "I can do anything I want on my userpage and not get in trouble for it" which is untrue. Schazjmd(talk)15:52, 1 November 2025 (UTC)

I could use some assistance from someone significantly smarter than myself. I was awarded the Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar on my TP, and while it displays fine in desktop I noticed that the image is tiny in mobile mode. Didn't think much about it until I saw this one, which displays how I'd expect. I popped into edit for both and the wiki sourcecode appears identical with the exception of text and image sources. Then, because I can't let anything go, I pulled up DevTools for both and drilled down into the page codes, and I thought I'd finally found the issue in a span class discrepancy - but when I went to check again it was gone and they both look identical now and I can hear colors and smell burning toast. Help a poor http-1 fluency newbie out??
(Yes, I should probably download the app and it's entirely possible it would make this whole thing go away, but right now I need to go find a fire extinguisher for my brain.) ChompyTheGogoat (talk) 12:29, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
Looking further it appears this applies to numerous barnstars - possibly ones created before mobile devices were so prevalent? At any rate, might be a longer term issue to identify and fix any/all that are affected. Whatever the actual problem is. I could attempt to poke around on desktop but I'm not sure whether it would be identifiable there, unless I force mobile view maybe. Just not confident in my own meager coding abilities here.
