In the Wikipedia information regarding IPTC it is described as covering Internet connection by broadband cable and phone lines and mentions various early uses. The article does not mention that the first public demonstration <ref Financial Times 10th July 1995> of IPTC via standard phone line took place in London by a UK company Viewcall Europe demonstrating a set top box internet to television system showing pictures text and sound. The Viewcall system was later shown at Comdex in 1995 at which Robert Metcalfe, journalist and the inventor of the Ethernet, reported it < ref Infoworld December 1995> as 'clicking on hyperlinks out on the Internet and seeing hypertext markup language - fonts, colors, images and all'. He coined the term 'Intervision' for it. In January 1996 the Viewcall STB was shown as a production item with a fully operational browser with remote controls and remote keyboard. Various newspaper reports in December 1995 and January 1996 from the Wall St Journal, USA Today and Byte, wrote pieces mentioning the VIewcall system. Jayranben (talk) 16:45, 1 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
