In an age with increased distrust and uncertainty, I felt it was important to be transparent about generative AI use in my work and lesser so, in my life.

The catalyst for creating this AI policy comes from Mel Mitchell-Jackson and their conversation with Amelia Hruby, PhD, on Amelia's podcast, Off the Grid, as well as a followup episode by Amelia.

For the purposes of ease and brevity, I refer to generative AI that has been trained on large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Claude, Anthropic, Gemini, and Grok as simply AI, but please note that I am very aware that other forms of AI exist. I am not talking about those.

I do not use AI tools. My reasons are political, social, and environmental.
I am not interested in collaborating with folks using AI in their creative work.

At some point, I'd like to expand on each of these reasons but until I find the time, energy and patience to sort out my thoughts in a clear and concise way, I invite you to review an on going database of articles that help highlight why AI Sucks, Actually , curated by a human named Darby who lives in Ohio.
