Update on my dad’s first Mistborn read.

He’s about 200 pages into WoA now. He’s reading faster and faster and I love it

He keeps talking about how mean Straff Venture is and how he lies and whatever. Like dude. I know what he’s like. I’ve read all the same things about him as you and then some. Vin, do your thing already-

Also his pronunciations of everything is throwing me. “Twindyl” instead of Tindwyl? I mean I see how he got there but it annoys me. Also he still says uh-lawnd instead of my eh-lend for my Venture boy.

Aaaaand he’s still talking about Reen a lot. Ruin cut it out you’re making my dad yap at me

My dad has officially finished TFE! He really liked it and immediately started WoA.

He immediately asked me the question I knew to expect. I was kind of backed into a bit of a corner and had to spill that Kelsier would return. As much as I would have liked him not to know…Well, he still has no clue of how or when Kelsier comes back, though.

He loves Vin and Elend, so he keeps asking again if they’re in book 2. or in all 3 books. Over. And. Over. He loves to repeat himself and it drives me insane.

Well, at least he’s sucked in. He can’t stop reading, even though he’s past the sanderlanche now.

Okay, so my dad is reading Mistborn and just said Elend’s name for the first time and pronounced it completely differently than I have? I had thought the pronunciation on that one was pretty universal compared to some of Brandon’s other names. Now I need to know which one of us is insane

My dad is almost done with Mistborn. He got Sanderlanched and is definitely finishing tonight. As I type, he’s sitting next to me reading.

He currently thinks Elend is going to die. I mean…he’s right, but you’re a bit early for that. He hasn’t directly said it but he’s implied that’s his theory.

He also talks a lot about Reen. Just…I like that you’re thoroughly analyzing “Reen’s” words to Vin. But you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. He’s very observant, and has the potential to see some of the big twists coming if he puts his mind to it.

Meanwhile I’m just waiting patiently for him to suddenly look up at me and ask if Kelsier is really dead. He asked if Yeden was alive somehow. If he’s asking that about a minor character he’s definitely asking the same about his favorite.

I just find it hilarious that my dad loves Kelsier while also being basically a version of Hoid that tells the same 5 (boring) stories over and over and never leaves
