Curio overview
Curio is the premier brainstorming and project-management application designed to promote visual thinking. Using Curio's innovative freeform interface and tools, you can intuitively gather, associate, and recall your ideas, while easily managing all the notes and documents associated with your project.
The heart of Curio is the idea space. Think of idea spaces as your whiteboard, notebook, and sketchpad all wrapped up into one. Within a Curio project, you can create an unlimited number of idea spaces where you can place anything anywhere on the page. Brainstorm or organize your notes with freeform collages of text, images, URLs, documents, Mail messages, movies, and sounds. Give the idea space a note paper or graph paper style, or perhaps a linen paper texture. This is your idea space, with your notes and ideas. Make it the way you want it to look.

- Build Kanban boards that automatically group and sort work by priority, rating, tags, dates, and more. Professional adds Smart Kanban boards that gather matching items from across a project.
- Add Excel-like formulas to native and Markdown tables in Professional, with structured references and common math, statistical, and formatting functions.
- Sort native tables by any column while keeping header and footer rows fixed.
- Keep copied lists, mind maps, and stacks linked with synced collection instances in Professional.
- Attach typed figure references to Curio jump targets and web locations with the new Professional References panel.
- Create project-specific tag sets with their own colors, ordering, and Kanban grouping.
- Automate Curio with native macOS Shortcuts actions, built right in. Curio 34 also works with the new Curio CLI and its MCP server for Terminal scripts and AI agents — a separate download that requires an active Professional subscription.

The update/upgrade pricing is way too steep, I stopped upgrading at 29, don't even want to know how much this app cost me since I first got it, hundreds of dollars. It's an interesting app but not near as central to me as DevonThink (my hub for so many things).. and so much more expensive over the years; these days count about $80 per year. And it really has not modernized for years when it comes to its content appearance (cards, listings, flowcharts etc look very outdated, so not even good to make modern presentations, feels very old school Powerpoint). When it comes to creating visual boards (which was what first attracted me to Curio) Apple's Freeform is quite capable.

Bought the 14.4 pro version three month ago…
The app got updated to version 15 with a very short list of 7 additional features which are either minor, or should already have been included in the pro version (like markdown images in text figure - what kind of app support markdown without image ?) and now it ask me to pay an additional whopping 69€ for the upgrade to the 99$ I already spend, while announcing a « great » update in the pricing model allowing a 1 year free update after every purchase instead of a yearly major version paid upgrade model (which happened to be in April every year) and a new « outstanding » subscription model in the Mac App Store for 76€/year.
The developer is one more **** to the growing list of greedy developers which ask you to pay every ****ing year for bug fix or simple update to the last apple API or minor additional features or cosmetic update.
