This week was a lot of prep for other things, which is satisfying but not as exciting to others as a list of THINGS.

  • I have, in theory, now fully strung together the disparate sections of this thing I'm writing (remind you, we're at ~38k and only now it's getting in order, I've never approached a story this way before and although it is weird I'm going with it) and made some spreadsheets about it. Which! I am going to try to continue approaching this as I have been (in chunks as so struck by desire) to keep slapping meat on the skeleton before stringing it all together.
  • I'm modifying a little insert for one of Chase's camera bags, which doesn't sound exciting but is an enjoyable task. I really thought I was going to have to make one from scratch, which would have been a hassle (it's to be fit into a bag that has also been modified), but hooray for holding onto things: there was one that just needed to be cut down. Lots of hand sewing but I don't mind, it's nice to do after dinner while watching things.
  • Oh, speaking of sewing, I made a pair of shorts on Saturday. They've got to go in the wash before pictures, but I used a light denim bought as a remnant the very last time I went to Joann Fabrics (RIP). This is my third time using the same pattern, which is technically for pyjama bottoms and I think I finally feel mostly confident about it.
  • The various silly old video bits from high school that I have been meddling with have been trimmed up and colour-corrected and are now just waiting some light audio additions (one fully has a song that has to be replaced).
  • While doing that I've been exporting particularly good frames of snow as stills (see this week's image) and today decided to just pull all the snow into a video also. I'll drop the resulting texture pack on Itch this week, probably.
  • Blog post this week was just ticking off long-lingering projects I'd finally finished this year. Both to celebrate wins but also so I could share a still of one of the lines in the owlbear video that I enjoyed.

I think that's all? I feel weird every time I talk about this long form project (book, it's a novel, god, whatever) because I'm not sharing much about it (though I think subs got the basic description and logline). Like, partly it would make no sense for me to explain some parts of the process "I made a alpha-numeric string generator to suit my needs for this" and other parts I just don't want to deflate the sense of working on something by talking about it??? I dunno.

Thank you for your support as always!
