âšď¸ This blogpost is really just me taking out my frustrations on Mozilla and their dumb decisions. Itâs not very well written, and some things i mightâve gotten wrong.
For something worth reading, check out the page about this on the Consumer Action Taskforce wiki, aswell as a list of alternative browsers at the end of this page.
Iâm done. Iâm genuinely done. I donât wanna use Firefox anymore. Even if i strip out all telemetry bull$#!^ out of it, i just donât want to use it, and neither should you. You wanna license my data and everything i do in the browser???1 and have a âacceptable use policyâ in a browser?2
There have been countless posts, blogs and YouTube videos around the internet talking about Mozillaâs questionable choices that theyâve made. In fact, they arenât a browser company anymore, and they donât care about Firefox. They focus more on advertising and AI (1). Iâm sick and tired of AI, i donât care about it, i donât wanna hear about it anymore. AI shouldnât be talked about as a trend, but rather as a tool that people can use instead of relying on search engines that sometimes just give you bull$#!^ results, straight up.
They also engage in⌠lemme check⌠in activism?
Lemme get this straight. They would rather engage in activism, advertising and AI than to focus on making the two products theyâre most known for, Firefox and Thunderbird. NOBODY CARES. Literally nobody cares about what Mozilla is doing besides Firefox and Thunderbird. All they are really doing is giving the tech community something to talk about, because we have to talk about it and put Mozilla on the news. Like come on man, just make the damn browser and make it comparable to Chrome. Theyâre not even funding the development of Firefox!!! Go see for yourself, go to their funding page and CTRL+F on all the pages under it and see if Firefox is mentioned anywhere.
Donât get me wrong, iâm all for the Web to not be controlled by big tech and filled with trackers and ads and crap like that, but you donât do it by using words and giving us privacy alternatives to things we DONâT want to see be filled on the Web, we want a browser (and an email client) that doesnât spy on us, doesnât have telemetry, and doesnât want to sell us some whatever service nobody is going to care about, and in the end itâll just be a waste of money for the company.

Anyways, i deleted my Firefox account and moved to Waterfox, which is Firefox based and is mostly free of any Mozilla crap. You can still sign in with a Firefox/Mozilla account but i already deleted that and will never use it again.
Is Waterfox any better than Firefox? Maybe, probably. They used to be owned by system1 which is a privacy-focused advertising company, but have split off them since July of 2023, and even they stated that they only wanted to work on Waterfox and not include any crap whatsoever3. How much can they be trusted? ÂŻ\ _(ă)_ /ÂŻ but since the project separated anyway, thatâs probably negligible now.
âWhy not use Brave or Ungoogled Chromium?â If it hasnât properly happened already4, uBlock Origin is no longer available on Chromium-based browsers, and i donât like Chromium-based browsers in general. :P
I have nothing against Brave at all. The AI and Crypto stuff is super negligible. You really shouldnât care about it at all, just disable it and move on. I donât know how good Braveâs adblocking is when it comes to YouTube, but uBlock has been the go-to for me and if i canât use it, then it isnât worth my time. However i do have everything against the co-founder Brendan Eich for being a piece of $#!^ person5 and i hope he also loses his position at Brave.
What do?
Get out! Leave Firefox completely until it splits off Mozilla and everything Mozilla-related is removed from it.
Hereâs a list of alternatives:
Firefox based
Waterfox
LibreWolf (heavily-privacy focused)
Mullvad (Torless Tor Browser)
Zen (Beta)
Floorp
Pale Moon (based on old Firefox) Get uBlock here
GNU IceCat/IceWeasel (not recommended if you want websites to work)
Chromium based
Brave (if you can ignore the POS co-founder)5
Ungoogled Chromium
Thorium (optimized Chromium) (Info on controversy)
Chromium builds on Woolyss
Falkon (what)
If i got something wrong, please, pretty please!!! do not hesitate to correct me via my email!!
