Smaug,
a chess engine by Joona Kiiski which was a slightly modified version of Glaurung 2.2 by Tord Romstad, announced in March 2009 1. Smaugh's patches were soon incorporated into another Glaurung derivative by Marco Costalba dubbed Stockfish 2. Along with some emotional forum discussions on derivatives 3, Joona Kiiski became co-author of Stockfish, and Smaug 2.2.1. the one and only public release 4.
