Recapture Extensions are a subset of Capture Extensions, restricted to recaptures to the same target square. A recapture is supposed to be a relatively forced move. However, some programmers consider any two consecutive captures 1, or even any capture with respect to an intermediate Zwischenzug 2, if it restores the material balance of the root as recapture, while others recently favor to restrict them to PV-nodes only 3.
