Golem, (ChessGolem)
a Chess Engine Communication Protocol compliant chess program by Gianluigi Masciulli, written in C. Starting the project in 1999, the first beta appeared in January 2000 1, when Gianluigi Masciulli just implemented the quiescence search in an "exploding way" 2. The first public release was in May 2000. With Gianluigi Masciulli as founding member of the G 6, the Italian Chess Programmer Group, Golem played all the early G6 tournaments, four Italian Computer Chess Championships (CIPS) from 2001 until 2007, and the CCC 2008 and CCC 2008 Chess Computer Cups 3.
